DR FJL gave me several laugh-out-loud guffaws this morning with his parody posts.

Back from the service, which was lovely. And the picnic afterward.

If they used BBQ smoke instead of incense every week, the Episcopal church might draw larger crowds.

And the baptism was, indeed, right in the Mississippi River!

Did you sing "shall we gather at the river"?

The first several weeks we walked the Renaissance Trail here I kept yelling at the bikers to ring a bell.  I have given up since I kept embarrassing Keith-lol.  He is very sweet though as he keeps me on the edge of the path and walks the inside so he will be hit first.

Do bikers even have bells? I don't have one, but i suppose it could be useful.

Do you call out before passing people?

Only if they are blocking the way. If they are over to one side then I slow down a bit. if they have a dog or child then I have my hand on my brakes.

After my shoulder injury my balance was off and I now realize how easy it is to step out to the side.  Our real issue is with the bikes that don't slow down and you can feel the air as they zip by.  As I expected, you are
careful.

If walking a dog I face traffic and keep the dog on the grass/tree side of the walkway.

No, DR vixmom - but it would have been most appropriate!

We did sing "Wade in the Water" and "Down to the River to Pray."

And, DR Jane, all the bikers along the path to the river DID use their bells to signal that they were passing.

There's even the inevitable mash-up of the new Dr. Seuss book and the revisionist Atticus Finch in the new To Kill a Mockingbird book:

(tune of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”)

You’re a gold mine, Mr. Finch
Your success can never fade
They’ll be rich from all the interest
Once the devil has been paid
Mr. Finch
In that dark little bank vault
Is that where you should have stayed?

Very funny, Fred.  I'm actually reading "To Kill a Mockingbird"...for the very first time, I hate to admit.  But better late than never, right?

So do you know whose 1967 evening of songs was written about by William Goldman in his book THE SEASON as follows:

Two men were standing in the lobby.  One said, "I don't know....is it theatre?"  The other man replied, "It has to be.  It sure as hell ain't singin'!"

Isn't anyone (I assume it's meant for people who didn't read the book) going to guess?

That makes me happy.  I would not have to be the crazy lady yelling"ring your bell".

Well, I must be going.  Tofpday is the first full rehearsal of "An Improbable Peck of Plays, Vol. IV" (an evening of one-acts) and the beginning of tech (aka hell) week.

And today is the day that the board provides food for the cast and crew, since it's going to be a very long evening.

And since I'm also on the board, I will not only get to participate in the feasting, I will have to help provide the feast, which I certainly don't mind doing.  I'm going to get a couple of Costco pizzas.  That should be good for everyone. :)

Until later...much later!

I am a complete dolt. The choral concert was LAST Sunday. So we missed it. But the birthday party was very nice, and I made it home in time to feed the neighbor's puppy, which was a last-minute request this morning. I will try to snap a photo to show later.
