Nice link DR FJL.

And I like George's lumber teeth.

And of course....something I read yesterday that made me laugh:

I'm so old Abraham Lincoln stayed home on my birthday.

What debate?   I know Megyn Kelly was front and center, dressed as though she were competing for Miss Galaxy or some such, but was there truly a debate?

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.  I read a bit of the book last night - my section completely, riddled with typos.  Read the section on Lost Horizon - basically even when he's dealing with a terrible film he's a cheerleader.  And obviously no one looked at one word of the book in terms of proofing - in the Lost Horizon section he says that Paramount's casting of the film really let the film down.  That's fine only Paramount had nothing to do with Lost Horizon - it's a Columbia film.

A brass land/sky telescope was delivered today.  It is stronger than our current land scope and will look nice since it will be in the dining area.  I hope it works as well as the write-up on it.

All our tile work is completed.  The electrician needs to put in the new outlet/plug covers and the contractor is making a special door for a shelf in the kitchen and then we will be done and ready to take photos.

Tomorrow's one of my favorite days of the year: Rambling Rose'. I'll be on a series of panels about rose' wine and the wonders of drinking pink. (That's the dry stuff, not white zinfandel and its ilk).

Friday afternoon greetings!  I was home from my Cincinnati overnight in time for lunch, after a fun class this morning in which we made a Two-Folds Tag Book using 5 each of 2 different kinds of envelopes.

In about an hour we will see Rob and Mary Linda off to the Dayton airport.  She's flying to England tonight with a co-worker for about 10 days of providing some kind of training.  Her husband and her housemates are very jealous!

You were saying the other day you wanted to find out about original ending.

I took a look at the first few pages of We Can Be Who We Are on amazon.com. The author misspells Busby Berkeley's name on the second page. Not promising.

Real story?

You were saying the other day you wanted to find out about original ending.

The final scene on the OBC, and new recording, beginning with "Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, busy little sewing bee" to the end of the show was written for Broadway and most likely rehearsed by day while the cast was still performing the original final scene at the Phoenix theatre in every performance  until the show closed there and moved uptown where they opened, and later recorded, the new finale.

The original final scene:
1. The sewing bee has no chorus ladies singing "Buzz buzz buzz buzz, busy little sewing bee"; it's only the three social leaders, Helen, and Penelope and they sing "Tat, knit, hem, stitch. etc. to the tune of "We've Just Begun." In this scene, the ladies sing about what they are working on and Penelope explains the importance of items in the quilt.  Helen examines the quilt and declares it finished.
2. Four suitors enter with Ulysses and offer their hands, now that she's got to fulfill her promise of selecting one of them when she finished the quilt. Four of them have short solos on who they are: country doctor, village blacksmith, farmer in the dell, and Ulysses offers himself as "a wandering ne'er-do-well." She blindfolds herself and kisses the four. The townswomen are shocked by her offer and leave, telling her she's not respectable.
3. After Ulysses kisses her, he reveals himself, punches a suitor who falls backwards onto the other three like dominos, and the four boys fall down. They leave, leaving Penelope and Ulysses alone onstage.
4. Penelope's Tirade, just as the final version, leading into
5. "We've Just Begun."

Also in the entry on 1776 the movie, the author dismisses it entirely because it didn't deal enough with the slave issue.

He says that there had been no attempt to make lyrics, score or libretto interesting. Huh?

Last comment/question on the book. Was there a suggestive child molestation in "Finian's Rainbow" the movie?

None.  There is none in the original show, either.
