I wondered the same thing about five hours ago.

I have been fighting with that jerk Yap on Cast Recordings.
Can hardly wait to read that tomorrow.

You correct something that little creep says, and he accuses you of a myriad of things. I posted that if he were any dumber, we'd have to water him.

John Yap is one of the biggest idiots ever.  He thinks he knows everything there is to know about making recordings when, in fact he knows very, very little.  Now, let's see how long it takes for our stalker to send Mr. Yap that.  My guess is, if they're on now, within five minutes.  Good job.

What did you correct him on, elmore, and what did he accuse you of?

Further Annette house report.  They seem to have stripped away all the stucco on the front of the house, exposing the wood frame and the insulation - maybe they are just redoing that stuff - wouldn't that be a nice change of pace, but I remain skeptical.

What did you correct him on, elmore, and what did he accuse you of?

He has a complete recording of SHOW BOAT that he claimed was the 1946 revised version.  Well, it sort of is and sort of isn't because it's missing the big dance numbers in Acts One and Two for Helen Tamiris' choreography and it cuts the character of Kim, the daughter, who sang in 1946 "Nobody Else But Me."

What he recorded was the Rodgers & Hammerstein rental package based on the 1946 revival.  That's fine, and i actually think it's a pretty good recording, but it is not what he claims it is.  I posted that if he'd included "Nobody else But Me" where it belonged, and not as an appendix, he'd have a good facsimile of the 1946 version.

Well, then he went ballistic and started raving that he was sick of me knocking his recordings! I didn't knock it, but then I went ballistic and pointed out that it was one more example of his lousy research and, thanks to his poor pre-recording research, his complete GREASE and KISS ME KATE recordings had the cleaned up high school lyrics and not the original Broadway ones.

Then I told him that Rodgers & Hammerstein had spoken to me about editing a complete SHOW BOAT edition last year.  I am sorry that job fell through.

So, I've got four possible titles for my lecture in October:
Who's Afraid of Stephen Sondheim?
The Pulitzer, Steve, and Me
Stephen Sondheim: the Demon Barber of Broadway
Yes, Virginia, There Is A Stephen Sondheim

The Annette house is tented and there is a big truck that says Environmental Services who just dropped off what looks like a huge garbage bin.  I don't think the tent is for termites - do they tent houses before demolishing them?

Asbestos? Hoarders?

E.T.?

Funny, DR Ginny!

The author denies it, however, so perhaps that's just another urban myth.

I agree with Vixmom, but specifically the second first, then the first second.

If you're taking votes.

And on that note (F-natural), I'm leaving work.  Tonight at 7:00, Theater Artists Olympia is having a read-through of the revised version of "The HEAD! That Wouldn't DIE!" called "The HEAD!! That Wouldn't DIE!! Redux!"  The musicians have been rehearsing the songs but this'll be the first time that it's all read/performed together.  It's gonna be great!

Be back later!

Personally, I like the last one.

But that's just me...

Back from a jog.  At the two-thirds point coming south on Laurel Canyon some girl shouts out my name, so I have to actually stop - she says "Do you remember me?"  Of course I have no idea but say, "I think so."  She says, "Kimberly!"  Now, a last name might have actually helped me, but noooo.  So, she wants to talk about some music thing she's involved in - I gave her my number and hopefully when she calls she'll say her last name.

Or caller ID will.

I think that's why I thought of it.
