Oxford comma vibes to all!

Hear, hear!  (despite the grumbling in the background from DR John G.!)

given tickets to the opening night of Sunday In the Park With George by Mr. Sondheim himself.

What was the story behind this?

I was wondering the same thing.

I keep waiting for the director to tell the awful actress how awful she is - but she just keeps plugging away and getting more awful.....

It makes rehearsal very difficult for me.....

And a few things that really need their OWN rehearsal.....dead body moving business....sort of just happen and we move on......   I don't think I'm going to be able to wear a hairpiece.....the arm over the head carry would make short work of it in no time.....

Oh man.  It would seem to me that this goes without saying.  There are few things funnier in a play than having to hide the dead body, and like any great comedy set piece, it's got to be FLAWLESS.  Every time.

(Preaching to the choir, sorry.)

Which actress is the awful one?

And I am home.

And I am feeling puny.

The good news is that my flight tickets are all set.  The bad news is that i feel lousy both physically and mentally.

Thursday morning greetings!  Richard and I left here about 1:30 yesterday afternoon for our lunch date at Bravo, followed by my shopping at 4 craft stores, and a little chillin' time at Starbucks.  Our last stop was the library from which I retired for the "Farewell to Main" reception.  Visited with many former co-workers and caught up with my former manager who is about to become director of the public library system headquartered here in Middletown.

Soon I'll get myself together to go shopping for the strawberries and blueberries for my chocolate-coated cones.  Watch this space for a photo when they're completed!

We've had to adjust our fall travel plans because Richard has received a jury duty summons that interferes with the ideas we had.  However, it does NOT impact the first week of November, so we're exploring a trip to NYC for Sami's show!

Good morning, all.

I feel a little more lifelike today. A little is better than how I felt yesterday, so I'll take it.

TOD:

Anita Morris in particular doing "A Call from the Vatican," but the entire production of Nine was pretty spectacular. It was also the second show I saw on Broadway.

A preview of Sunday in the Park with George before Children and Art was included.

A production of Merry Wives of Windsor at Louisville's Shakespeare in the Park.

Singdaw, I would rather have the Oxford comma than the current trend of ignoring commas altogether.

Thanks, DR JohnG.  I don't know what hit me, but I left Columbia and headed to the pharmacy, where I found myself wanting to sit on the sidewalk and weep.  I was a complete mess.

I think my most vivid memories are of high school plays because that's just the time when memories tend to be very vivid. I saw some high school musicals too ("Hello Dolly" and "Damn Yankees"), but for some reason I don't remember them as well as the plays. I mostly remember "Mama's Bank Account" and "Barefoot in the Park." It was so fun to see my own friends in these plays instead of strangers that I normally saw on TV. I think the first professional musical I saw was "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", but I don't remember it all that well, except for hearing my future mother-in-law laughing hysterically at a bawdy dance number at the end.

I felt much the same way yesterday when the nasal flood wouldn't stop and the stomach ache kicked in and all energy was drained out.

TOD

'Tis with regret that I say that there's nothing theater-wise that had its effect on me in a way that I ever thought I remembered every detail of the experience, or anything close to that.  But since, to the very best of my knowledge, a local performance of SOUTH PACIFIC was the first musical I saw on stage (probably first play, period), and I was blown away by the magic of the piece (the performance might have been execrable for all I know), I'll credit that night at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale with being printed indelibly in my memory, and planting the seed.

It was a few years later that I volunteered my services as rehearsal and pit pianist for the Junior Theatre's production of LI'L ABNER.  While that, too, was most assuredly nothing to write home about (I already was home, anyway), that experience truly lit the fire.

So, those two are significant for being "firsts", but that's about as far as it goes.  And I'm not sure I even answered the question.

And with no help at all from Adrianna and Billy!

Or do you think he might have had just a little?

Good morning, all! I was in bed by 9:30 and slept very well. There was a dream involving Stephen Foster's song "O Susanna" but that's all I remember of it.

Must have some allegorical association with a banjo on your knee.

TOD:

San Francisco productions of

"Wicked" (world premiere) -- two different performances, each unique and memorable
"A Chorus Line" (revival pre-Broadway) -- blew me away
"Mostly Sondheim" - Barbara Cook's tour -- 90 minutes of uninterrupted vocal magic!
