And the word of the day is: ENCEINTE!

Actually know this word.

One of my favorite tv shows of all time

This is one of the few times I've known the meaning of the word of the day and for the same reason!

Does it seem like some people have started the holiday weekend a week early, because Labor day is so late this year?

I guess Labor Day is as late as it can possibly be, Sept. 7.   And then the Jewish holy days start evening of Sunday, Sept. 13.

Good morning, all!  I have been lazing about, procrastinating and enjoying the morning, listening to a Franck Mass and Berlioz' Five Sacred Pieces.

Sunday morning greetings!  I am alone - well, with the cat - in our house for the next several hours, which happens very rarely.  Mary Linda is in Michigan celebrating her Dad's birthday and Richard and Rob have gone to church together.  My friend Sharon is picking me up about 1pm for Deborah's annual tea party at her lovely home in Cincinnati.

I had toast with a dab of cherry preserves for breakfast.  the expected check didn't arrive, i will have no money until my pension lands in my account on Tuesday, and all I have in the house is half a loaf of bread. It was quite tasty.

We had a nice big storm last night-- and not just the threat of a storm (which is what we usually get), and a real-honest-to-God rain.

DR George, I think your evening sounds like fun.

When the Shakespeare Festival gave free performances of the musical THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA several years ago, my best friend Matthew and I took my goddaughter Charlotte. We sat next to Tommy Tune, the rains came, the show took a break and then continued.  We left Central Park about an hour later than usual, rather wet but very happy that we stayed.

I think that production was the first revival I've seen of a show, where I saw the original production, that reached the same standard of excellence.

Today, I am back to my recording work.  I will pull some CDs to play as I write, most like TWO GENTLEMEN . . . will be one, maybe Sandy Wilson's hilariously depraved VALMOUTH.

VALMOUTH

Which should always be used sparingly when shaking up a martini.

Depends on the quality of the Valmouth.

Sandy Wilson's VALMOUTH, like its Firbank source, is very delicate.
One of the footmen, as they oft do,
Looked very handsome with his livery on, and off, too,
But it was only a passing phase.

And we feel barren but also quite fertile
Quick as a hare and yet slow as a turtle
But alive, but alive, but alive

I'm up, I'm up - almost ten hours of blessed sleep.  Rehearsal is at one, so depending on exactly how hot it is, I may jog in about thirty minutes.

Well, last night, my sister's boyfriend and I went to see Randy Newman in concert at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery.  The show was just Randy sitting at a piano and performing songs that he had written (mostly old songs, but a few new).  It sprinkled a little bit off and on during the first set and part of the second set, but about two thirds of the way through the second set, it really started raining and didn't stop.  People started leaving, and it continued to rain, and Randy kept singing.

This sounds like fun. And I love Chateau Ste. Michelle's wines. Great values and flavors.

It was fun!

I had seen The Manhattan Transfer there two different times.  The first time had perfect weather, and the second time was like last night...very rainy, but still a great concert.
