Well, you've read the notes, the notes were laborious, and now it is time for you to post until the laborious cows come home.

I'm up. Barely.

Temperature is down, almost to normal. I drank a hot toddy before bed and seem to have sweated it out of my system. But I still feel weak and of groggy focus.

I had planned to work from home today, but there seems to be a problem with connected to the mother ship. Don't know how long it'll take to get it fixed.

Good morning, all! I was up too late reading the Letters of Noël Coward, and I slept in.

DR cillaliz, if I had a choice between Audra MacDonald and the baseball game, we'd be sitting in a stadium with hot dogs and beer!

I've been looking art car rentals on Orbitz.  I wish the rental included a driver.

TOD:
I have a really hard time watching movies that center around dogs. They always have such sad parts mixed in with the happy parts. The movie Bruce watched would have had me sobbing uncontrollably. I am intrigued by the Budapest Hungary aspect since I am a full-blooded Hungarian Jew (not a mixed breed). The only other movie I know of that takes place in Budapest is "Little Shop Around the Corner", which is delightful, of course. Anyway, I really can't think of a movie with dogs that I really love, except "Cats and Dogs" which really didn't have any sad parts (I don't think).

I didn't know he was in the Patty Duke pilot.  I have known Flip since 7th grade and Keith has known him since 10th grade.

It's amazing to me how much I was able to sleep on Friday.  It was obviously a response to all the tension that had been building up during the week by the jury selection process.

For the record:  I do not mind serving on a jury.  My one experience doing so was rewarding.

BUT, and this is the big butt (!), the selection process is infuriatingly maddening!   90 people in my jury pool and about 85 of them were called and asked the same questions, had the same things explained to them.  ALL of them were asked "yes-no" questions and ALMOST all of them hemmed and hawed and then launched into verbal essays.

The courtroom is in our Superior Courthouse one block away from where I work, but across the street.  I can see the courthouse through my boss' window right now from my desk.

There are three flights of steps in between each floor.  One takes the steps during breaks because it usually takes the elevators 5-10 minutes to respond to a call on each floor.  The seats in the audience of the courtrooms are wooden.  Not comfy at all.  ALL DAY WEDNESDAY.   ALL DAY THURSDAY.

So on Friday, my body kept resisting all efforts to get motivated.  I had coffee, some brunch and then back to bed around Noon.   L-a-z-y day.

On Saturday, a co-worker treated me to weekend brunch at Brenda's French Soul Food in San Francisco.  I had eggs benedict with creole hollandaise over fried chicken and cream biscuits plus a side of yellow grits with cheddar cheese!  Add three cups of coffee with chicory and that was me all over.

Sunday was quiet, as was Monday.  Watched movies, napped, putzed around, did nothing else.

Monday was a hot, hot, hot day in Oakland CA.  Temp hit 95 degrees...and that is HEAT STROKE weather in the Bay Area.  I praised myself all day for having bought two new portable AC units back in the Spring.  I thought the summer would get hot and it has not let me down.

We expect to be hot each day through Friday!
