It never stops, does it?

I am still recovering from my ankle surgery, and we got word from the doctor yesterday that my wife, Sandy, will be having another neck/back surgery (her 5th) next month.

They are going to remove/replace 4 discs in her spine.

She will be in the hospital for 4-5 days, then wearing a neck brace for 2 months after that.

 :(

I agreed to be a docent for a neighborhood house tour tomorrow night. There will be 10 houses on the tour altogether; the house where I'll be volunteering is a lovely old Victorian - 6,000+ square feet, built in 1907.

I received a nice Kritzerland box with my HANGOVER SQUARE cd, a nice mug, and a t-shirt today.

Hopefully, my copy will arrive in the next day or two.  All the libraries were closed today, so no one was there to receive any deliveries today.

Today's keynote speaker is a former CEO (I think) of Disney (this is correct).  HOWEVER, this one man has been scheduled to speak for, get this...TWO-AND-A-HALF HOURS! :o What could one person talk about to a captive audience for two-and-a-half hours??

He'd better be good.

I wonder if it's Ed Catmull, whose book on creativity and running Pixar and Disney animation was wonderful

Nope.  I was wrong about the CEO part, but he was very good and I was surprised that I was engaged the entire time.

This morning I had a friend request on Facebook.  To preface:  Those who've read Kritzerland, the middle book in the trilogy, may recall a character in the last twenty pages called Betty Bremers, someone Benjamin becomes friends with in junior high school, and hangs out with after his only "friend" shines him on.  In fact, he shares his first real kiss with Betty in the back row of the Four Star Theater seeing Where the Boys Are.  I have, over the years, searched for the real Betty but no luck - and yes, I used her real name for the book.

Well, this morning's friend request was from Betty Breemer - no wonder I've never been able to find her - I'd lost an "e" and added an "s" - the latter probably because of the singer Beverly Bremers.  And yes, it was THE Betty.  I accepted her friend request, then went to PM her and she'd sent ME a message that had gone to my "other" folder on Facebook - I do not understand the purpose of the "other" folder and find it extremely irritating.  She remembered me well and spoke of a date we had seeing West Side Story.  I of course remember that, but also reminded her about seeing Where the Boys Are in the back row of the Four Star, leaving out the part regarding the kiss.  She wrote back immediately and said she remembered Where the Boys Are, adding "My first kiss."  Isn't that funny?  We're talking something that happened fifty-five YEARS ago.  I told her about the Kritzer books and will be sending her a set.

That's so sweet. :)

It's raining here in Tumwater, and has been for about an hour or so.  Not a huge downpour, but still needed.
