TOD

To answer properly, I'll have to run my eye over the DVD/BD collection and jot them down.  There are the "big" ones, like 20,000 Leagues and Mary Poppins, certainly -- but quite a few others for various reasons as well.

I inexplicably left left 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea off my list and I love that film!

Orchestra parts for the "big" number are finished.  I need a nap.

Am i the only one who actually enjoy "The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band" - I even found myself humming the Grover Cleveland salute during the debate last night.

Richard and I (mostly Richard) just installed a new light over our stove.  Yay, no more cooking in the dark!  Actually, I'd just be happy with "no more cooking," but that's another story...

I know I saw Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea at the Stadium and I'm pretty sure it was when it came out - when it hit the neighborhood theaters.   But I also know I saw Song of the South there and that must have been when I was five or six during its reissue.  I liked both films.  I probably saw Old Yeller back then, too.  But it was, of course, The Parent Trap that I loved best.

Good morning. At least for a few minutes here on this side of the country.

I had a nice hike this morning, but it is still a little too warm to be out in the sun too long. I was out too long.

Speaking of which, when I watched the 1972 Once Upon a Mattress the other night, whatever copy they used had all of the original television commercials, and they left them in.

Where did you find this?  I watched the black and white one.

DR JOHN G I love the soundtrack for THE ONE AND ONLY GENUINE ORIGINAL FAMILY BAND.....but the movie not so much.

And I wanted to like THAT DARN CAT, but we don't see any of the main stars for so long at the beginning - we're bored to death by a couple of minor characters talking and talking and talking.....I want Dorothy and Haley and Dean!

re: the other folder on facebook.

It can be annoying if someone you want to hear from has a message go to that folder. But as long as you check it regularly I don't mind its existence.  I don't really want messages from people who I don't know going into my regular messages.  Women get creepy messages from men saying they want to be our "friends".

My pre-op was a bit of an adventure. Here we are, in the midst of a severe drought, and it POURED. We desperately need the rain, but thankfully it had decreased to a heavy mist by the time I needed to leave the apartment. Jan got a bit lost trying to find my apartment, but traffic was light and that helped. We had no trouble finding the parking structure, but we turned NE out of the structure (zero signage) and got caught in a maze of construction, with stairways to nowhere. As it turned out, we should have turned NW, but of course we didn't know that.

I was scheduled for two appointments: the first with the staff to take eye measurements, and the second with the surgeon. I never did see the surgeon. That appointment proved to be with a counselor, who reviewed things with me and obtained the consents. It went fairly smoothly, but there were several things which were not at all what I can expected. I was given a half dozen hand-outs, detailing what I should and should not do, but some of it was contradictory. I spent an hour on the phone with them today, trying to sort all that out.

Jan and I stopped at Poquito Mas (a little Mexican restaurant) on the way home. They offered us free tortilla soup, as it was a rainy day. It was quite good.

I'm also shopping for a new cell phone. I think it may be easier to shop for a new car.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'd been wondering if there was such a thing as readymade eyeglasses to help with distance. Readymade reading glasses, sometimes known as "cheaters", have been around for many years. What about the opposite?

I found Adlens adjustable lenses. They're inexpensive glasses, designed for emergency use, such as if your glasses break. At each bridge there's a little thumbwheel which you turn to adjust the lens. The power ranges from -6 to +3. They do not correct astigmatism. I'm a -8, with a fair amount of astigmatism, and was really surprised at how much my vision was improved. I bought a pair to help me through the time from the second surgery until I have a new exam and new glasses. The optician adjusted them to fit my face properly.

Here's the website:
