Take it easy if you're using chocolate bitters.

Sometimes Cynar, an Italian amaro or bitters liqueur made from artichokes, is bourbon's best friend. Sometimes, they're mortal enemies in a glass.

Tobacco bitters can be a good thing.

I don't think I should have to buy a smoking device in order to make a cocktail. But thankfully there are bars out there willing to do that for you.

Interesting...Harvey Fierstein Will Freshen Up Funny Girl Script for London:

Isobel Lennart wrote the original script for the 1964 musical that has a score by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill. Chocolate Factory artistic director David Babani told the Daily Mail that Fierstein has been tasked with "revising the show’s book and making it acceptable for an audience today."

The show, about American comedienne Fanny Brice, made Barbra Streisand a star on Broadway in 1964. But it’s rarely produced, for two reasons.

First, there are few actresses with the acting and vocal powers to portray Brice.

Second, the show’s book has always been problematic.

Streisand had considerable influence over the creative team and, as a result, the second act is more like a Fanny Brice concert than a show with a story.

This problem is about to be solved. Harvey Fierstein, who wrote the script for new hit Kinky Boots, has been contracted to revise Funny Girl for the forthcoming production at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

David Babani, the Chocolate Factory’s artistic chief, confirmed: ‘Harvey Fierstein will be looking at revising the show’s book and making it acceptable for an audience today.’

The second act really isn't that much of a problem. The first act is. Or at least the time spent away from Fanny and with her mother and Eddie. Who Taught Her Everything She Knows, Henry Street and Find Yourself a Man have great Styne melodies but who cares? They're not about Fanny.

Holy crap! I have been notified by my HMO that my Medicare premiums are going up $73 next year. At this rate in another two years I will be paying what I paid monthly for health insurance before i turned 65. On a relatively fixed income i cannot afford this and it's disturbing.
