Got an e-mail from former dear reader S. Woody White - he and der Brucer had been around since my weekly thing on the Sondheim Stage website (One from Column A) and he was here for many years until I think things got to be too much in terms of what they were personally dealing with in their lives.  Anyway, der Brucer has passed away at 77.

DR elmore are you cousin's riding to the airport with you, or have you returned the car and they are taking you?

I will meet them for breakfast, then drive to the airport and return the car.

Enjoy your morning.

Speaking of which, I was curious as to why that rental car cost so damned much.

What did he get, a Bentley?

It's the insurance.  I have no car insurance of my own.

I was also wondering.  Yes, that insurance is expensive.

DR ELMORE I meant to tell you to throw three pennies onto the property to help it sell.....but I was remiss in getting back here.

You can also leave them at your brother's house....that should help, too.   If you have a stream or lake nearby toss them there - or anywhere in the direction of the property.

I will drive by the property tomorrow on my way to I-75 and throw the three pennies onto the lawn.

Major Vibes it works!!!!!

The site is certainly working so where exactly in tarnation IS everyone?

After I FINALLY got off the phone with the furniture store we went shopping.  I found one store that carried the Saucony shoe I have been looking for to try on.  Since I desperately needed a new pair of shoes, and they only had one in my size, we went to the store.  We found, to our pleasant surprise, a wonderful little running store and we each purchased a pair of shoes.

The store also had a four month old English Bulldog puppy named Bella who belongs to the store manager.  We had a great time playing with her.  She is still at the age where she wants to chew on every shoelace, not good when the shoes are all new ;D

The way I read that at first, I thought you got shoes from a furniture store....

Just back from Skyline Chili, where I put away a delicious 5-way.

Jealous.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  I really enjoyed my conversations with Der Brucer when we were all in New York and the time he and Woody were here on the board.   Would love to see Woody come back.

Starting to watch the San Francisco Opera production of Show Boat. The singing so far is good. Not real big on Bill Irwin yet as Capt. Andy, but I think Harriet Harris is a good choice for Parthy.

But then, the last time I saw the show, Parthy was Cloris Leachman and Capt. Andy was Dean Jones, both of whom were exceptional.

Oh, my. Is there a song to equal "Misery's Comin' Around" for coaxing a tear in eye? And it's delivered beautifully here. Even if I have a few quibbles with this production, that one song makes this production worth seeing.

Makes me want to see the New York Philharmonic production that's coming up later this fall on PBS.

Our show is going well.  Tonight is "Pay What You Think It's Worth."  You don't pay when you get here, you watch it and then decide how much you think it was worth.

It's not a huge audience...about a third of what we can hold.

But there's still about a half hour of Show Boat to go. And I'm debating watching all of it tonight.
