Well, you've read the notes, the notes were at last complete again, and now it is time for you to post until the complete cows come home.

If my car broke down, or I was in an accident, I would be lost without a phone.

LOST WITHOUT A PHONE - it's a terrifying thought, and sounds like a title for one of those high-concept thrillers, like SNAKES ON A PLANE.

DR FJL - I am glad that you had a good trip for the family event. It is nice that you could be there.

I forgot my phone yesterday as well. I don't like driving back and forth from Manhattan alone without it in case there is an incident or accident or undue delay

TCB, is it truly unusual to put slaw and pickles out on the table in a restaurant in Washington?   It is a usuAl thing in diners and delis .... What about the rest of the country?   Tell e DRs all, is this truly only a NY tradition ?

In my experience, it's delis, specifically, that put out the pickles and sometimes other accoutrements such as slaw, pickled carrots or whatnot.  I'm also pretty sure that the delis in my past, in other locales, did likewise.

Vixmom, do the the NYC/LI/NJ diners do it, too, for sure?  I don't think the New England ones do.  But whenever and wherever it's done, it's a tradition I love.

I was going to add this to my post about LULU, but life got in the way and I never got back to it.  Here's the NY Times review that describes the Kentridge production.  I think I'm going to go back to the "encore" showing a week from Wednesday.

I have no plans, just puttering about, paying a few bills, looking over my work tab;e contents and pondering what to tackle first.  It doesn't help that all I really want to do is go back to bed.

Monday morning greetings!  Today's grocery shopping day for Thanksgiving.  I'll try to get everything but the turkey, which is on order to be picked up Wednesday.  There will only be 6 at our table this year...

At Izzy's, a Cincinnati chain, they put pickles and sauerkraut on the table.  Makes my mouth water, just writing about it!

I remember this at Mort's Vienna Deli in Chicago.

DR TCB I rarely buy a donut or go into downtown Portland.  The bagels, to our delight, are close to home.  They don't make my favorite, egg, howver their cinnamon raison are the best I have ever had.  They make three delicious varieties of cheese and Keith also enjoys the onion ones.
