The best thing that happened to me this year is that my significant other got laid off from his job as a newspaper entertainment editor. I know that doesn't sound like a good thing, but Mark was working 16 hours a day and I almost never saw him except on weekends. Getting laid off my newspaper job was one of the best things that ever happened to me, Amy. I'm sure that Mark will find something similar in his case. All the best for 2016.

I had a nice visit with Jim Miller and his brother Danny, who's a freshman at Ball State. We went to Arties's for breakfast. They headed to the Cloisters, and on my way home I ran into Dan Pantano who's with the Philadelphia Vocal Academy. It's been a good morning.

Just got a call from Mom. She hasn't been feeling well and was worried about it. Turns out she picked up something a little too heavy (groceries, probably) and that caused her pain. The doctor was pleased with what he saw and couldn't find anything wrong.

I'm up, I'm up - about seven hours and I'm sure I could fall right back asleep should I get back into bed - it's very gray our and has been in true LA style raining on and off for a day or so, but by rain I mean the street is moist.

No, but my sister is making the cupcakes and that's the kind that she makes anymore. They're pretty good, and there will be vegans at the party...and people who only eat gluten-free, so they'll go over well.

As did I! I actually got two yesterday (Kritzerland's "The Pick-up Artist/Rapture" and "Victor Young at Paramount, Volume 2"), and then today I received, "His Monkey Wife/Aladdin" and "Dorothy Loudon at the Blue Angel and Other Rarities" from Stage Door Records.

What I tried to say is that I think some people in the City refer to the rest of the state as "upstate."
