Oh shoot!  I left the leftovers from my lunch in the car.

It's probably been cold enough that it'll still be good tomorrow.  That's happened to me before.

I realized I was short a few presents and since Vixdad was going out for a haircut I pressed him into service .

Then the wrapping commenced

Finally by 1 the wrapping was finished and I was able to eat something

So I toasted a bagel and had some tea

Did a bit of cleaning and decluttering and then it was time to get dressed and go to the folk's house  for Christmas Eve

Oh hello boys I just assumed I was alone anfpd have been rambling on

No, TCB, Christmas dinner will be at my folks house my dad is housebound now...but I will be cooking dinner there

It was weird going out on Christmas Eve shopping wearing jeans and at shirt....it was in the 70's... Weird weather but I am enjoying it

I figured that was probably the way it was going to go.

So dinner  was a smorgasbord.  My uncle always sends my mom a ham, so we had that, and I brought a roast chicken,and croissants and all the dessert stuff and my brother brought salmon and salad, his inlaws  always join us and they brought one of up those huge edible arrangements fruit centerpiece

How was that centerpiece?

I got. Lot of very nice gift cards as well as a Lenox porcelain pin.  It is very pretty and unusual  I never saw a porcelain brooch before

I have so much candy and cookies at my house, it isn't even funny.

I did not have any.  I consider holidays a time for indulgence so I enjoyed the shrimps and cocktail sauce, the hot crab dip, a variety of cheeses, some ham, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, croissant, some chicken, cake, cookies, wine, coffee with kalhua and whipped cream..... And stays away from the fresh fruit, fresh green salad And the salmon..... No one Can accuse me of eating healthy foods on a holiday

But the centerpiece consisted of cantaloupe and honey dew melon, cut into crescent shapes, pineapple stars, purple grapes, orange slices and strawberries all artistically arranged in a red medal basin.

We all still exchange with everyone in my family .. Our tradition is that we hand out all the gifts then all watch as each person opens all their presents. We go in age order youngest to oldest...

Two of my three nieces were missing this year... One was in Rhode Island and the other in Boston and now that they are college graduates and working women  were unable to get away.

By time we were done and all the cleaning up was finished and we were heading home it was after 10.

MERRY CHRISTMAS from the West Coast!!

I briefly  considered going to the 10:45 service which us spectacular.... We have the full choirs, the brass choir, the string choir and the bell choir all performing  pews are all fitted with candles and here are candles sconces on the walls and the parishioners are all given candles and the final hymn is Silent night.  The lights are turned off the pastors light the aisle candles and sones and light the candles of the people sitting on the aisle  seats. Who in turn light the candle of the person next to them until by the end of the hymn the church us again enblazoned by the lights of hundreds of candles   The church is always packed for that service.... 300 +.  Not a seat to be had if you are tardy

But there was cleaning and decluttering to be done and Vixdad was tired and the vixter was tired...and the Vixter is serving as assisting minister fir the  Christmas day service so we will be attending then.
