Richard and I did a little grocery shopping and picked up Chinese food for dinner.  Watching Clemson win their semifinal game and waiting for the MSU/Alabama kickoff.

TOD - 1982 - we'd been in New York since Christmas Day evening, having a great time seeing Broadway shows and visiting with DR Elmore.  In keeping with our tradition, we ate Chinese food at Dish of Salt (now Utsav, an Indian restaurant), saw EVITA, and stood out in the middle of 7th Avenue in the low '50s in front of our hotel at midnight.  From there we could see the ball drop in Times Square and the fireworks in Central Park.

Almost time for our partay.  I cancelled tonight's visitor.  I just am very stuck in my ways about New Year's Eve - I've been solo on these evenings for over twenty years, with only two exceptions and on both those occasions the person had to leave two hours ahead of midnight.  Three more episodes of The Bridge.

Thanks for mentioning this, Jennifer!  I forgot to set my DVR to record this, since I'm not going to be home tonight.  Fortunately, I can set my DVR to record from here at work. :)

Topic of the Day:  the most memorable NYE was 1995 when I was in NYC for NYE.  I went with a theater group and some of us got tickets to a special performance of STOMP that ended right at midnight.  We got out of the theater in Greenwich Village and got a taxi and by the time we got to Times Square, it was pretty much cleared out...thankfully.  But the best part was that I was in New York City at all!

And now, I'm off.  I'm going to my sister's for a couple of hours or so, then on to the New Year's Eve Star Wars Birthday Party!

Have a great evening and be safe, everyone!!

I wasn't even sure if she was doing it again this year. But I saw a promo on CNN. It seems like they are doing a long show this year (from 8pm till after midnight).

Kind of quiet here.

Can it really only be three hours until our balls drop?

TOD. I think it was 1983.  I was in love.  We went to see a band at our favorite bar and danced and danced and danced. It was wonderful

I usually stay home on NYE.  The past few years friends have had parties and I've gone most of the time.  This year there is no party as there is a big band playing downtown at a local music/art place.  Most of my friends are going to be there.  That's fine with me as I can stay home.

Apropos of nothing...

When I was digging through photos looking for those others, I came across these two and wanted to examine them closer.  Couldn't date them until I looked up the film OUT OF SEASON which is seen playing at the Bruin.  November 1975.

For your doughnut eating pleasure...
