I have seen this season's DA and just watched the New Year's special....most entertaining....although the stories I am bored of.....continue to bore me.....some characters just do not interest me and seem to be filler.....

Today I went to see Kiss Me Kate at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC.  Douglas Sills and Christine Sherrill starred and were terrific.  Robyn Hurder and Clyde Alves (who was one of the sailors in the recent revival of On the Town) were also great.   I'm so glad I saw it before it leaves town.

As good as Brent's production?

Well....

Earlier this afternoon, I was napping and I had a dream that my mom was leaving on a cruise to Toronto.  A few minutes ago I noticed what time it was, and I wondered if my mom's ship had sailed yet.  She has been dead for twenty two years this month.

Very weird.

Have you seen the movie in 2D, George? If so, let us know the differences you experience between the two formats.

I did see the 2D last week with my sister.  The main difference is the aspect ratio.  The regular widescreen is more cropped at the top and bottom.  The IMAX format is closer to TV ratio...more square.  The other obvious difference is, of course, the 3D, which is pretty cool.  3D may not be necessary, but it is fun to watch.

Next to the movie theater is a pizza restaurant, so we might go there afterward.  I don't want to have a big meal before the movie to lessen the possibility of needing to "go down the hall," as my sister says, during the movie.

;)

Which is of course different from the "hall pass" that Kathy Griffin kept referring to with Anderson Cooper on New Years Eve.

But, of course!

In November, I bought a ticket to see Glenn Close reprise her role in a semi-staged production of Sunset Blvd. with the English National Opera this spring in London.

Well, the ticket arrived in the mail before I moved last month, and since the move I couldn't find it.  Today, I went through all the un-packed boxes and things like that to be sure I hadn't missed it in the un-packing.  Well, when I thought all was lost, I looked in a small box that I had overlooked twice now in my search, and there it was.

I think I'm done for the day!

Whew!

We had our first snow today.  We had no snow last winter.  We had a very light dusting, but it did stick for a while.

Yup, even down here in Tumwater.

In the meantime, it's time to hunt for the proverbial needle in the proverbial haystack - again.

More about that later

Happy hunting. //// Glad you found it. (I misplace too much stuff these days -- like my mind.)

It came north from the Portland / Vancouver area.  Jane is lucky she was out of town.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is back in Seattle.  I wish I could see it.

I've never seen it.  Friends of mine saw it last week and didn't ask me to go.

I recently started a novel by Sarah Hill, THE HAUNTS OF MEN. This is the first book of hers I've read. She's quite a competent writer and her writing feels quite self-assured. Has anyone here read any of her work? DR Ginny? Jane? John G? Jennifer?

I have not read her. Like that title, though.

But when I got home, my sister called. She and I are both beginning to worry about our parents. They are in their late 80s and a few things have begun to happen to make it seem as if they probably shouldn't be working so hard to maintain their house.

Any suggestions on how to have that talk and make sure they understand you respect them and are just trying to help them instead of pushing them out of the picture?
