What's weird is that two days ago there was a hoax report about him dying, when he hadn't.  And now, two days after the hoax, he's dead.

When we got Sherlock it was suggested we name him Bowie because of his different colored eyes.  Bowie did have a slight difference between his which he often exaggerated with contacts, however, they were not a striking one brown eye and one light blue.

Sad news about David Bowie.  I admired him, but I wasn't really a fan.  I do love his Christmas duet with Bing Crosby.

I think next year, bk shouldn't schedule a Kritzerland show in January, since he always knows he'll be writing a book then.

TOD:

William Goldman's ADVENTURES IN THE SCREEN TRADE is still the best book written about Hollywood and the movies.

Of course, right behind Goldman's book are the Hollywood memoirs written by BK and myself.

Good morning, all! I had a long day yesterday and it wasn't helped by the fact that that I was already exhausted when I got to City Center. This leg is wreaking havoc with my sleep patterns, and I feel that I sleepwalked through most of my day with Joshie. I hope I didb't screw up too much.  I will learn tomorrow at the rehearsal.

Wasn't sleepy at all when I finally laid my head down, and I tossed and turned for a while.  Just as I started to fall asleep for the first of several times, I went immediately into nightmare mode without passing Go or collecting two hundred dollars.

I was living in this apartment building and had been at the neighbor's next door for some time, and when I came out of their place I found my own door standing wide open.  OMG, did I do that?  And OMG, is there stuff missing?  A couple of quick glances around the room confirmed some things were definitely gone, notably...the drum set!  In desperation I started pounding on the other neighbor's door to ask what they knew or what they saw.

In so doing, I began to see that I was actually asleep and that this was a dream, for which I was more grateful than I could say.  But I nevertheless woke with a start.  I would just as soon have awakened without a start, but it was still all good.

Since we don't need the summer clothes from our trip I have been doing the laundry at my convenience.  I am tired of the scattered piles on the floor.  I guess I had better get up and begin reducing them.

Joshie just called. "Taking A Chance on Love" just came in and Jonathan requested it be ready for tomorrow's rehearsal.

So, I'm going to City Center at 2:00 and I'll leave when everything's ready for tomorrow morning.

Question for BK:

Why don't you post the new Kritzerland release(s) before you go to bed at night, rather than getting up at 6 am in order to do it?

Just wondering...

I never paid a lot of attention to David Bowie, though I did see The Hunger and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.

But I wonder what's going to happen to his Lazarus musical, which just had a tryout production in New York.

I am enjoying Elvis Costello's autobiography, however. It's called Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink, and he seems to be encyclopedic in his knowledge of popular music in the second half of the 20th century. There are anecdotes about plenty of people in the theater business and mentions of shows of the time period, including Half a Sixpence and Pickwick.

His father was a band singer who often recorded under a number of different names. One was a single of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" with, what he calls, "the Topol hit, 'If I Were a Rich Man'" on the flip side. It seems his dad also recorded a version of "If I Loved You" under the name Hal Prince.

I was up at six, announced, then went back to bed, not to sleep, but to think.  I thought, worked out what my issue was with the new chapter (where I kept waffling back and forth about what it was going to be), and realized I didn't like the one I chose.  I found a new and nice way into it and got up and wrote those two pages before going back to futz and finesse.  I may go back to bed for another thirty minutes, just to think some more, then I'll begin the futzing and finessing.
