That's what I'm afraid of, DR Jane, but I'm not in charge of the book group anymore.  Just trying to play along nicely...

In a discussion about the book that would be one of my first comments.  Prior to the discussion I would be tempted to stop reading and read the first book instead :)

We used to have a copy of Still Life around the house and I would have done that, DR Jane.  But I think we gave it to the book sale a year ago or so...

We saw the Mad Max movie and found it entertaining, pretty much what we expected.  I was shocked to see it was nominated for best film.

Now I am wondering why you gave away a book you hadn't read yet ;D

LOL, I had bought it for Richard.  I didn't really have this series high on my list of "want to reads," even though it's highly regarded by many librarians whose opinions I respect.

DR Ginny please let me know what the response was to the book, and if you find out why she picked the last book in the series.

I'm feeling puny.  I wonder if the constant change in weather and temperature is affecting me?

I'm now debating going out today.

The sun just came out so I had better go for a walk now if I want to stay dry.

I just contacted Kyle, who's one of the leads in this workshop today, and cancelled on him.  I really wanted to see it but I've been through a lot of heavy sneezing and my stomach is behaving poorly.  I'd rather die on my own bed.

I may go there and stay for the next couple of days.

I'm up, I'm up - about nine hours of sleep, which I really needed.

I am baffled by the critics and Mad Max and also by the best picture nomination.  It's not my kind of movie at all - I thought it was well directed but it's one car chase from start to finish.

I had a bad night and am feeling unwell today, too. Yesterday I felt like I might be coming down with something, but it was very mild. Today I'm convinced. I had some things I wanted to do around the apartment, but I'm revising that plan and will take it easy.

When I lived in Alexandria, VA I was a member of Washington Independent Writers and would often attend their conferences. Many of the sessions were about the business of writing and getting published.

DR Ginny, you mentioned some sessions with publishers at your ALA conference. Was that similar? The sorts of books they're looking for and the trends they see? What did they have to say?

I don't think it's a best picture, but I understand George Miller's nomination for best director. I thought he did an excellent job in a genre that too often settles for much less. It was far more engrossing than the world of Lord of the Rings with better payoffs in terms of visual excitement, tension, and adrenaline rush.

Last night I concluded my viewing early in order to spend some quality time with the book I'm  reading--without reading into the wee hours. But by 11:40 I hadn't even picked it up! I don't know where the evening went. I hope to spend time with it today.

Condolences to TCB.  I understand when people say no service, but sometimes I think it's harder for those left behind to not have a chance to say goodbye and celebrate the life of a family member or friend

I thought it was appropriate that Johns post about a cocktail conference came immediately after Vixmom's post about working at 15 hour day....I'm sure she could have used a cocktail about that time....or a good night's sleep
