Monday morning greetings!  It's ver-r-r-r-ry cold here in SW Ohio.  Richard and I are going to a class at the public library this afternoon on how to use their research databases.  I used to teach a class like this in Dayton...

Do you think it has changed much since you taught the class?

I hope so, DR Jane - it's been 10 years!

The class was moderately informative.  The biggest difference from when I taught this material is that now they talk about accessing the resources on mobile platforms like tablets and smartphones.  What hasn't changed is that very few library users know about them and those who do are reluctant to use them.  Richard and I were the only 2 in today's class.

I hate people who linger.....after the show.....  At our facility, I tell cast members, talk to your friends someplace else.....  They stand in the way when we're trying to sweep the house of all of the popcorn and programs and ticket stubs and candy wrappers that they've thrown on the floor....

The show is over.....go someplace else us to talk.  THEN they stand outside by their cars talking and talking....and of course we can't leave the property while people are still there.....so we wait and wait and wait.....

 :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Hmmm, DR TCB.  I guess we should be brief after the show :)

DR Jrand65 - no announcement yet, but there just might be some sort of limited extension, once again.

I must be going.  I'm first going to get something to eat at Taco Del Mar (my regular Monday lunch place), then a little later I'm going to meet a couple of friends to see "The Big Short."

After that, we are all going to The Olive Garden for dinner.  Fortunately, there will be enough time between TDM and TOG that I won't still be full...probably.

Be back later.

So an audition that I referred to cryptically back in November has come to fruition. I am a founding member of the 45-voice American Public Media Radio Choir. Our debut is at Orchestra Hall this Saturday. We are performing a work called "Seven Psalms," a setting of 7 Psalms from the Bible for tenor soloist, choir, and jazz quartet. Plus some very intricate settings of songs by Sia and Dave Matthews. The whole reason for being of this choir is to get people singing and to engage folks in singing. So while we'll do occasional performances, the bulk of our activity will be events like singing in schools and prisons and organizing community sings. It's a great group of talented folks, and I am thrilled to be a part of something new and full of exciting energy.

I futzed and finessed and wrote a new couple of pages, but something was not feeling right about this section I'd just done.  I'd had that feeling when I did it - I waffled back and forth and finally went with it.  But it explains why writing the last five pages has been so difficult - it just wasn't right, and it's also why I was having trouble feeling motivated.  So, I went and had a bacon and cheese omelet and a bagel and decided to completely change the tack I was on.  Thankfully, by rearranging some things I was able to keep a lot of what I'd written, but it plays so much better now without the encumbrance I'd put on it and it was suddenly easy to write because it was right.  Of course, making that change means I haven't written any additional pages yet today.  Richard Sherman is coming over shortly to play his song for the LA show - when that's done I will really buckle down Winsocki and write new pages and hopefully finish the chapter so I can begin on the addendum.
