For the past two days I have been reading The Martian.  I had thought I could finish it yesterday, but that would have been pushing it.  Today, for sure, then back to some other things.  It's been a great read.

I'm very glad now that I didn't run out to the movie.  I've enjoyed picturing things the old fashioned way, and I'll enjoy the film for itself all the more later.

TOD:  Well, we know it's intended to be an outright funny one, and I believe it will be a series of scenes set in some favorite old L.A. restaurants.  I have no clue other than that!

Thanks for the Women on the Verge link, SlapJack.

I remember loving that movie when I saw in the theater, but little of the movie except for the colors seems to have stayed with me.

TOD: In addition to what's already been said, it's a BK original.

In the meantime, the Internet is abuzz with the possibility that Bette Midler will return to Broadway in Hello, Dolly!

Broadway or TV?

Good morning, all!

The first thing I did this morning was close one of my windows. It's cold!

I had three dreams; I remember bits of two:

1.  At the intersection of I-75 and Roosevelt Boulevard in Middletown OH, a group of construction workers was stuck underground.

2.  I was at an oratorio concert at Carnegie Hall, a performance of Handel's Judas Maccabaeus (I think), conducted by a Broadway conductor of whom I think very little.  Joshie was there, recording it for Rob Berman, and our former DR Jose was in the audience.

More tax work today.  Tomorrow morning I have lab work for my doctor's appointment next week, followed by work with Joshie on Cabin in the Sky.

I know nothing about BK's new book beyond the fact it will be funny and that's good enough for me.

All of these strange dreams from DR ELMORE and DR CHAS SMITH should diminish by the end of the Mercury Retrograde on January 25.

Tomorrow we have an alignment of five planets that will make things run more smoothly, but that may attract some difficulties in relationships - business and personal.

I saw LEGEND last night and I think that Tom Hardy does quite a nice job as BOTH of the Kray brothers.  I also like the music on the soundtrack.

TOD:

No idea what it's about, but I'll make a guess.

It's an in-depth biography of President William Henry Harrison.

I am sure the new book has something to do with L.A. restaurants.....perhaps it is about a series of meetings at different locations....and something to do with the business of show.

We watched SICARIO last night with Emily Blunt.

Enjoyed it, but it does have some structural problems.

DR JRand65, I had a book about the Krays, which I bought in London in 2001 or 2002; I think it went out of the apartment during the bedbug mess of 2008.  I very much want to see LEGEND.  I really enjoyed the Brit film THE KRAYS: BONDED BY BLOOD, with Billie Whitelaw as their mother.

Maybe I'll dig around today and see if I still have the book.  I see that LEGEND is already on DVD in London.

I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep - perhaps later I'll fall asleep on the couch.
