Time to celebrate George Kennedy, who passed this day (unless it's another hoax) - ninety-one or something like that - what a long and wonderful life. I don't do these mindless shares when people I don't know die, but I had the pleasure of playing his son in a CBS pilot - we came within an inch of selling, but instead CBS bought Struck by Lightening, which tells you all you need to know about CBS. That show lasted less than a half-season, whereas I think had they made the right choice, we would have run for years because, you know, our show was about real people, written by the fellow who'd go on to create Cosby. George and I really bonded and after they aired the pilot he called me and said, "Can't tell you what a pleasure it will be working with you." That's the kind of man he was - gracious and warm. I saw him six or seven years ago - he wasn't doing well, but he remembered me and we had a nice chat.
