In the past week, three separate people told me Don Knotts died. Yep, in 2006 - and sadly, there's been no improvement. But sure enough, someone had reposted an obit, and people were going around reporting it.

IMO, the Oscars are a lot more fun to watch when (1) you've seen a few of the films, and (2) you have a TV. I've neither. My sources are online. I did participate in Red Carpet observations and had fun doing so.

I hear so many people say that they no longer go to movies. Movie lovers, even. I think the thrill has gone, and movie-going isn't as much fun as it used to be. The enthusiasm isn't there. So, good Oscars show or not, I just don't think any Oscars party (or partay) will be as much fun as it used to be.

And I regret this.

What surprised me more than the racial-blind casting was John Larroquette as Benjamin Franklin. I can never picture anyone other than Howard Da Silva...and I've seen the live show a couple of times.

One of those cast in 1776, Santino Fontana, is on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was just on. Does anyone watch? I think it's a lot of fun.

And I was looking up the pilot we did and there's not much about it but I did find this review in people from when it aired. People Magazine called it right - but then again, CBS has always been run by idiots. ALWAYS.

George Kennedy is perfect in this romantic comedy as a gruff widower who falls for a young pediatrician (Anne Schedeen). His notions of propriety clash with hers when she suggests a trial live-in before marriage, but his sprightly mother-in-law (Irene Tedrow) and son (Bruce Kimmel) help patch things up. It's a pilot that flopped and shouldn't have.
