I have some tidying up to do, and at 6:00 O may have a dinner daye with the lovely Sara Jean Ford, who's one of the Christines in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. I haven't seen her since we did THE MERRY WDOW at Trinity Church two years ago.
I remember liking her in that!
I really love her. She's been one of my favorite sopranos since we did the Victor Herbert songs. Her audition for that knocked the three of us listening to her off our feet. I had asked her to sng something from an operetta, and I figured we'd get "And this is my beloved" or something by Friml or Romberg since she's a Broadway girl. she came in with Adele's Laughing Song from
Die Fledermaus. absolutely nailed the coloratura, much cleaner and much better than Chenoweth's sloppy vocalism on "Glitter and Be Gay," landed solidly on the high D, and left us agog.
