Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave you a headache, and now it is time for you to post until the headachy cows come home.

Good morning, all.

Way too early for a Caturday.  But I, like a perfect idiot, committed to playing more auditions today.

I don't have much to say for myself this morning.

Yesterday I spent another couple of hours at the Finale tutorials.  Boy, will I never want to hear Auld Lang Syne again after this is over.

These auditions are for kids in the morning and everyone else in the afternoon.  Then I'm granting myself a decent meal and an evening of good movie watching, which I'm sorely behind on.  Don't know what, yet.  Something damned good.

BK's not alone in yesterday -- actually the past few days -- having had their aggravations.  It's been a generally good, but up and down, week.

I do know that I personally let myself get too worked up over things that don't call for it.  It ain't worth it.  I'm making an effort to change that.

Tomorrow will be a ME day of leisurely work on music, followed by more movies.  I'm going to begin programming this Gypsy I'm playing, which isn't till July but it'll be a simple job and I will love knowing it's in the can so there's no pressure later.  I will also begin learning Do I Hear a Waltz?, the last of the three Encores! shows.  I look forward to that.  But Lordy, I also have to get off the dime and get my ticket for it.

A tax season Saturday - hopefully a very productive work day, since the phone won;t be ringing with calls from clients and there are usually no client emergency-emails when we're in on Saturday.

The Federal tax deadline being April 18 this year rather than April 15 has both positive and negative aspects.  On the one hand, we have an extra weekend of breathing room to get return filed.  On the other hand, that's an extra working weekend.

On balance, i think it'll turn out that the good aspects of the extra weekend for filing will outweigh the bad.

Here's another one for DR Elmore and whoever else is game:

In The Music Man there are three short "76 Trombones Crossovers" that follow the library scene.  In the published vocal score and the current MTI P/C score, they're in F, G-flat, and G, respectively -- but in the MTI full score and the parts, all three are in F.  I naturally "assumed" (and we all know where that gets us) that the ascending keys are correct, but having suffered through a few execrable YouTube productions in which they've been performed both ways, I begin to wonder which is more correct, or better.  (For this production, I care not.  I just wonder.)

The church was stripped of all hangings, flowers, etc so there is just the empty stone altar and the wooden cross with a black shroud

The church is lit by seven aisle candles and one large candle in a stand in front of the alter

None of us serving "vest" for the service ( no robes or vestments). We all are dressed entirely in black.

The service opens with two hymns played by the string choir and one played by the bell choir while all sit in quiet contemplation

Then we start the service which tells the story of Jesus' arrest, trial and crucifixion by interspersing readings from Isiah (OldTestament prophesies) (which I read) followed by a reading from Luke (New Testament fulfillment of the prophesies)   (Which the Vixter read) each reading followed by a prayer and a hymn during which one candle was extinguished

As the service progresses the church becomes darker and darker until finally after the last reading when Jesus is removed from the cross and entombed the final aisle candle is extinguished and we all kneel in silence by the light of the single altar candle while there is an acapella solo of "were you there when they crucified our Lord" .... Then the Pastor takes the last candle and walks behind the altar wall  and the church is left in complete darkness while we kneel in silence and then the Pastor slams the back door of the church (symbolizing the sealing of the tomb) which cracks through the silence

Finally the single candle ( the Pascal candle) is brought back to the altar to symbolize hope  and the congregation leaves in silence

It is a very moving and emotional service and the church is packed tight for it  it is also moving seeing all these people , even children leaving in absolute silence.  The tradition is no one even speaks on the cchrch walkways. They wait until they have crossed the street into the parking lot

The event grew from a couple of dozen  children to more than 400 attendees..  This year they stuffed 4000 eggs for the search.
