Elmore, did you ever watch the John Adams miniseries with Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti?

Yes.  I know Paul Giamatti's brother.

My problem is, after seeing 1776 in 1969, I only see William Daniels as John Adams.

Oh my gosh it is cold out today. What is up with this weather? It was 60F on Friday. And now with the windchill it is under 20F.

Sunday morning greetings!

Thank you to DRs George, John G, TCB, Vixmom, and JRand for the vibes for Richard.  He's much better today and, fortunately, did not have to go to Lima.  In fact, we skipped church all together.  He slept until after 9am and is taking it somewhat easy.

Happy Sunday to Everyone!  The latest edition of The Broadway Radio Show is up on this wonderful website for your listening pleasure.  It's a fun and informative interview with Beth Krakower, one of the leading publicists for Cast Recordings and Movie Soundtracks in the business.  Beth also represents several movie composers and has had an interesting career.  On the cast recording side, she handles all of Sony's Masterworks releases and we'll hear some clips from a couple of their latest, the London cast recordings of Bend It Like Beckham and Kinky Boots.  Give it a listen!

Abigail Adams is one of my historical heroines.  My favorite biography of her is Lynne Withey's Dearest Friend: A Life of Abigail Adams.  During my long labor with Rob, Richard read aloud to me from Irving Stone's Those Who Love: A Biographical Novel of John and Abigail Adams.

I'm sure you both needed the extra sleep.  I'm glad he is much better.

As much as I love to read I was in way too much pain during both of my LONG labor's.

Thanks, DRs Elmore and Jane.  Richard felt well enough to go outside and start picking up tree debris from yesterday's high winds.  He will need Rob's help with the huge limb in our front yard and the one that's impaled into our back yard.

That's why Richard read to me - I couldn't have concentrated myself.  And even in utero Baby Robbie loved the sound of his Daddy's voice...

I could not have listened to Keith reading-lol  Maybe it would have been a good distraction for Keith.  It was really hard for him to watch me in so much pain.

Glad to hear DH Richard is feeling better.  But these winds here are absolutely ridiculous even today.  I could feel the buffeting driving the highways just now.  Tell him to take care outside!

I'm on kind of a Roosevelt reading kick right now.  I'm listening to Hissing Cousins: The Untold Story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt Longworth and I'm reading The Man He Became: How FDR Defied Polio to Win the Presidency by James Tobin.  Tobin is a Miami University faculty member and we're going to hear him speak Tuesday evening about Ernie Pyle, the World War II journalist.

Now that I think about it, Richard started the reading aloud during a fetal monitoring test that I had a couple of weeks before Rob was born.  During labor we alternated between the Adams reading and watching Pete Rose on TV trying to break Ty Cobb's record, which didn't happen until a few days later.

DR Ron, were you the one who posted about your PBS station playing Show Boat? What did you think?

DR vixmom, I'm happy you got home safely, and I'm happy you enjoyed the show.  I guess the contemporary clothing didn't bother you?  A lot of the biggest laughs yesterday afternoon came from all the jokes about Congress that are still true today.  I do quibble about Abigail's LL Bean look, since I believe - bot do not know for certain - that she was not out plowing and running that farm without indentured servants or fieldhands of some sort.  I think I'd like to read her letters to John Adams.

The contemporary clothing on the men did not bother me,.. But the women's costumes did which I know is inconsistent and ridiculous but that's me all over

I must slow down when I read. I nearly dropped my iPad in horror to read Richard was impaled in the back yard

The winds are fierce.  When I went out after church I found one of our older ladies in the parking of with her good up and dead battery.  Since I have jumper cable I gave her a jump...
I was terrified one of the hoods was going to come crashing down on me
