I watched the World Figure Skating Championships Friday and Saturday.

The men's competition was incredible.  The gold medal skate was phenomenal!  And while the American men did not finish on the medal podium, they finished 6th, 8th and 10th.  Sadly, we will only be able to send two to next year's competition.  There is a rule that any country that has finishers in the top 10 must be able to add the placement of the top two and come up with a number not to exceed 13.  Since 6 and 8 were our top two placements, we lost the privilege of sending three men next year.

The women's competition was also incredible.  The U.S. Women did very well, finishing 2nd, 4th and 10th.  Three women will get to go again next year.

The champions for men and women skated the highest-scoring skates ever recorded in their categories...and both were superb.

My downtown 104 bus driver was in a really cheery mood, so I complimented him. Some of these drivers are trolls and it's nice to have one in such a helpful and pleasant mood.

I'm sure you made his mood even better :)

DR Ron thanks for the skating report.  I don't watch it anymore.  I should because it would be spectacular on our new t.v.

Monday afternoon greetings!  Another quiet day here.  I've had a 20-minute walk in the basement, folded some laundry, and gotten a double recipe of chili going in the crockpot.  Richard is still taking it easy and has made a Wednesday appointment with the GI doctor.

I don't know how many of you know of Don Francks, but he has passed away.

Some of you may recall that his death was reported a year or so ago...inaccurately.  Now, it seems, it's sadly true.  He has died of cancer.

For anyone has seen "Finian's Rainbow", he played Woody and wooed Petula Clark in a gorgeous duet of "That Old Devil Moon."

Thanks for posting the sad news on Don Franks. I know it's not great but I love Finian's Rainbow. I'd rather listen to the soundtrack than watch the movie.

I need to win the lottery. It's my only hope of financial survival, now that my brothers have screwed beyond repair our inheritance.

Oh, no! :(

I don't know if I'm up or down or sideways.  I think I got no sleep at all last night, and finally got a couple of hours this morning around ten.  I just did a stupid thing and had a piece of pizza last night (in addition to my pasta with butter) and you'd think I'd know by now that there's something in their red sauce that my stomach hates and I was just nauseous all night long and still am a bit.

I feel the same way about the film. I do wish i liked the orchestrations more.
