I actually enjoyed much of the WICKED score, but the decibel levels at the Gershwin Theatre are ridiculously high. The theatre is large, but it's not an outdoor stadium.

I would like to read the Maguire novel again. Some of the book changes really bothered me. I did feel the book and the musical were playing to two different groups: the novel is a fascist allegory for adult readers of the Oz books; the musical is aimed at fans of the 1939 film.

I am neither and still loved it. I also had excellent seats and my hearing was still good.
