Well, you always hear that Connecticut is NOT a state to retire in.  And my state taxes were already rough this year.

Sorry.  I don't recall it being bad the year we were there.  I remember just before we moved there a sales tax began.  It wasn't too bad at the time and clothing under $50 was not taxed.

I can blame myself for this one, for not having enough withheld from one source of income.  Usually I come out about even on the state, or they owe me a little.  Not this year.

I think the Pogue should drop into HHW for a howdy-do.

He has other things on his mind right now, but maybe sometime soon?

Seems like a good reason to have your social security taxes taken out of the check.  Can you do that with state or only with federal?

Thanks, I already saved the image from you.  I didn't think about downloading it though.  I will do that.

Have I mentioned how much I am enjoying my new computer.  Too much, I need to get up and do something else instead of playing with it.

April 15th - only three more days until Tax Day!

Fred, have you heard anything about this?  Elizabeth Warren thinks the IRS should fill out your tax returns.  What do you think?

Ummm...no thanks.   I'll pay a flat tax, though.

Sorry about the wrong info....I knew that SSI was exempted from state tax in California and in my home state of SC, so I presumed (I made a "pres" of "u" and "med").   :-*

My Public Employee Retirement Fund monthly check is taxed both by the state and by the Federal government, so I have a deduction taken from it.

My Social Security is not subject to Federal or State taxes, I didn't know it was taxable in any state.....of course I am retired and now have NO work income to report.

From the Best Laid Plans Department: I never got near the loquats and the day ran away from me. Off to Oyster Bake.

This is a question for the class.  I'm curious about something that I need to decide for myself now:

Those of you who are receiving Social Security income --

Do you have them withhold for taxes, or do you manage that some other way?  I realize this must depend on a LOT of different factors that aren't anyone else's business, but I'm just wondering what the general practice is.

I have money withheld for the IRS.  I didn't do it the first year because i did not realize I could.  i made an appointment with my local SS office and changed the records.

I'm home!

It was a long day, the band parts are not in the best of shape and there are copy errors. There was a bit of hair pulling today to get through things, but there's nothing grisly, thank God, but there will be work in the next two weeks.

The two numbers that Joshie copied and I proofread were fine.

I have never seen a loquat.

But I would rather see than be one.

Good afternoon.

Today I listened to Brigadoon while in the car. Does anyone know what year the play is set in?

200 years before the date of the current production.  The original Broadway dates were 1947 and 1747.

Thanks, Elmore. I was thinking that if it had been set in the 1920's, it wouldn't be long until Brigadoon appears again.

I have always wondered if in the year 2047 (or just before), someone will write (whether they should or shouldn't) a new show for the next day in Brigadoon.

After seeing "She Loves Me" I've been watching clips of songs from the show.  There's a great one of Rebecca Luker singing "Will He Like Me?"

Well, I need to leave work and head to the theater.  Tonight is the first of two nights of reading from The Beat Generation.  I'm sure it'll be quite exciting. :D

Until later!

I love my new computer.  I can see it without wearing glasses over my contacts :)  It works much better than my little laptop which is now in our kitchen.

DR Jane-what type of computer did you get?

So this weekend I have a brief to write, a ticket to the Symphony (Beethoven's Ode to Joy with 400 voice choir) and our band concert.   I want to go to the symphony, but the brief has to be done, so if I don't get it done during the day tomorrow, I'll be staying home from the symphony
