I hate, hate, hate the mispronunciation of the word "mischievous".I keep hearing folks say it as "miss-CHEE'-vee-us". No such thing. It's a THREE-syllable word.It's "MISS'-chuh-vuss".
Another thing that drives me up the wall:Someone writing that someone should "tow the line". Really? What line should they be towing? Where are they to take it? Did they somehow mean "toe" the line...in other words, is someone wanting another to shape up and be more accountable for himself or herself? Is it a phrase meaning, literally, put your toes on this line but don't you dare step over it?
