I wish I could remember if I was part of the Indiegogo cast CD fundraiser.

Woke up at five in the a.m. and finally gave up and got up.  There will have to be a nap at some point during my day.  I have a lot of work to do at the piano, and I'd like to actually be awake this evening at a semi-staged reading of Sartre's NO EXIT I'm attending.

Got two more productions to attend this weekend:  THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE at one theater, which I'm really looking forward to, and THE FANTASTICKS at another.  That's one I was asked to do, and I'm afraid I wouldn't have even if it hadn't overlapped other commitments.  But there's no way I'll miss seeing what they're doing with it

A week from Saturday I'm accompanying a few people in a li'l preview of their summer season featuring ZORBA and THE FANTASTICKS.  After that, I just have ACT ONE, and that about covers the excitement here through late June.

Well.....I ran the three numbers from LITTLE WOMEN.  This pianist - who is classically trained, I am told - can't seem to remember from day to day what she played for the ballroom dance......she either stops too soon or just keeps going when the dance is done.  The dance NEVER changes....so it has to be the music.  I will take her a CD of what she played the first night we did it, maybe it will help her remember.

She was also adding two measures before a dance break in another song....two in addition to what was written - to give the actor time to move downstage.....the first time it was forever.  I asked her to just play the original two measures....not enough time.

I just asked: "How can four measures last 20 seconds and two measures can only last 6 seconds?"  She replied: "Maybe I'll just play the four measures faster."  "Good idea," says I.

And of course my LEAD was not at ON GOLDEN POND - his wife's surgery was yesterday.  And of course I could NOT explain to everyone why he was not there and that in fact, he may not be doing the show....  And our kid actor was also a no show.

When he was called, he said he didn't know he was supposed to be there, although he was TOLD and there was a BIG YELLOW POST IT NOTE on his script with the day and time on it......

Yesterday and the day before were NOT good days for many reasons.  Hopefully today will be better all around.

The good thing is today is my mother's LAST radiation treatment!

Good morning, all!  I slept late for all the complained of resons for the past several month.  I was much happier before my doctor decided all I need is Tylenol and Tylenol PM.

DR vixmom, yes, former DRs Jed and Ann are in Manhattan and this is the second time, to my knowledge, they have visited without contacting anyone. I've moved them from the A-list and have no plans to maintain any interest in their activities on or off HHW.

This is a work-at-home day.  There's much to be done on three different jobs.

DR ChasSmith, why would you turn down THE FANTASTICKS?

I got a wonderful email from my friend fighting cancer:
I went to Philadelphia on Monday and got great news from the doctors.  The treatment was apparently very successful and they are extremely encouraged.

Since my friend Alan Freeman was told his brain tumor was in remission in 2013 and then died from it in March 2014, I trust no diagnosis. Please keep him in your thoughts.

DR ChasSmith, why would you turn down THE FANTASTICKS?

Much about the way this venue operates and approaches material is not to my liking.  As regards the music in this case, I was told up front that I'd be the only one paid while they'd be using a volunteer bass player and drummer, and that seeking a harpist would not even be considered.  It also overlapped existing commitments.  Even if the opportunity had been desirable, I wouldn't have been able to take it without damaging other relationships.  All of that having been said, I'm curious to see it and I'm sort of in study mode on it anyway since I'll be playing several numbers for another group next week.
