She also entered a window decorating contest conducted by the publisher of the James Herriot series about a Yorkshire, England, veterinarian.  First prize was a trip to England, which she did not win.  But she did receive an honorable mention.  I think there are photos and the letter, but I can't put my hands on them at the moment.

Nice.  I am enjoying your photos and stories.

Or is it too late for those vibes?

Not too late.  We missed our connection and are waiting for the next flight home e.  We could not get seats next to each other.

Back from some chicken tenders and a bagel, picking up a package, and listening to some vocals and rough mixes.  It's going to sound really pretty decent when it's done, but I have a very specific kind of sound I want and he hasn't gotten it yet, but now understands, and then we're convening Thursday to redo three vocals - not because they're bad but because they involved numbers with a lot of moving around where you can hear them getting out of breath or missing syllables at ends of words, etc.  Just want to have those clean.

DR Jane, I hope you're on your way by now.  Thanks for the nice comments about my bookstore story and photos.

Topic of the Day:  I'm not specifically a Beatles fan, so these are probably all the songs of theirs that I know:

Eleanor Rigby
Good Day Sunshine
A Hard Day's Night
Help!
Hey Jude
I Want to Hold Your Hand
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Octopus's Garden
Penny Lane
Strawberry Fields Forever
When I'm Sixty-Four
Yellow Submarine

And now, I'm off to the theater.  We should have a good run-through. :)

Until later.

For the first time going through it without stopping, it's going quite well.

It's been a very long day. And it's just getting longer. I told a friend I'd pick her up at the airport and naturally her flight is four hours late.

I remember when I was a little kid, my dad discovered a used book dealer that was on nobody's radar. We called him the old man, and he had essentially converted his house into a bookstore/library. There were probably 50 bookcases covered with treasures, and like any other bookstore, they were categorized. He really didn't have much of anything for little kids, which was when we started to go, but I remember finding a Peter Arno collection called "Excuse Me, But You're Sitting on My False Eyelashes." New Yorker cartoons for an 8-year-old.

I, of course, immediately recognized Arno's work when I saw the original Pajama Game art a few years later.

We would go back to the Old Man about once a year. Another treasure I remember finding there was Frank Capra's autobiography, The Name Above the Title.

I still have both books in my collection.
