Thoughts and prayers to the friends and families of those killed and injured in Orlando.  They just said it's the worst mass shooting in US History

I've seen none of the reports yet, but this is so sad.

The Collier's issue is September 2, 1939 - this artist did quite a few covers for them.  In the grand days when I had a hell of a collection, I had about four other Collier's covers.  I'll see if I can find them online.

Then again, I had three Saturday Evening Post covers, too - those would be worth so much today.

DR Vixmom does the Vixter's boyfriend have any friends that were at the club?

Sunday afternoon greetings!  It's so hot and muggy in SW Ohio I didn't even want to go out for lunch after church in Dayton.

Very well said, DR Jane.  We're leaving a week from today with Orlando (for ALA) our ultimate destination.  Conference registrants are talking online about organizing a blood drive.

That is a nice thought DR Ginny, if they still need blood by then.  Will you see former DR Jason while you are there?

Big sigh of relief! The Moross score is finished after five edits and two copyists. Lotta lyrics and a lotta notes!

I'll be contacting him this week and we'll try to get together.

I do not understand the goddamned post office!  They usually leave packages by the post boxes in our lobby.  I just got an Amazon notice that a delivery attempt was made and there was no one home.  I have been here all day and no one's rung my apartment. WTF?

I don't know Orlando well, but we'll be at the Orange County Convention Center, which appears to be about 15 miles from the scene of last night's tragedy.

I'm sitting here like so much fish watching a "live" auction on the Internet - a bit animation art auction - the main part was yesterday, which I missed, but apparently animation collectors are out of their cotton pickin' minds - the prices were astronomical.  Today's is the less expensive stuff and even that there are crazy online bidders who can't just let anything go reasonably, they bid it all up, THEN let it go.  Part of that could be shill bidding, of course.

I have been up since 2:30.  I woke to attend to ...well... I awoke and as I heading back to bed the iPad pinged.  I don't know what possessed me to look at it but I could not go back to sleep

As far as I know we have no immediate connection to anyone who was at the scene but I am besides myself all the same

And selfishly. My angst about the Vixter moving 1800 miles away has just gone through the stratosphere with two senseless acts of gun violence within hours of each other in the city in which she will be a resident in less than three weeks
