Wonderful sentiments and observations there.
I love this show. I wonder, though, if the audience reaction the author is describing is the type that BK got after recently.
This show and the cast are really magical. People either like it or detest it, but for those who do, it catches your heart. Carmen Cusack was robbed of the Tony. Her performance as a young girl at 16 and her older self at 39 is amazing, and she slides beautifully between the two time zones. The story, which contains a bit of Shakespeare's
The Winter's Tale, while its critics call it hackneyed and unbelievable, totally worked for me.
So, I think for a lot of people going into the show this week they find a delightful. moving romance, a bit of a fairy tale, and a heroine so wonderful you can only wish for her happiness. Audiences really want Alice Murphy to have a happy ending.
