I just got an email from Rob Berman offering me a ticket to tomorrow's closing performance of BRIGHT STAR.  This is quite exciting.

The usual suspects, I guess....since these are already named.

My trip to market went well.  As I waited for the bus to come home I had to deal with what I will charitably call an alte kakke with a walker who insisted on push me to buy his great composers coloring book. Oy!

Happy to be home.  The chicken soup is begun and I need to cjop onion and garlic, then get to work on "Fugue for tin Horns."

There was a story that the CD is selling quite well. It landed on five different Billboard charts, including the Top 100.

Wonderful sentiments and observations there.

I love this show. I wonder, though, if the audience reaction the author is describing is the type that BK got after recently.

The apartment smells like cooking chicken. Fantastic!  Like being at my grandmother's in Appalachia.

This show and the cast are really magical. People either like it or detest it, but for those who do, it catches your heart. Carmen Cusack was robbed of the Tony. Her performance as a young girl at 16 and her older self at 39 is amazing, and she slides beautifully between the two time zones.  The story, which contains a bit of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, while its critics call it hackneyed and unbelievable, totally worked for me.

So, I think for a lot of people going into the show this week they find a delightful. moving romance, a bit of a fairy tale, and a heroine so wonderful you can only wish for her happiness. Audiences really want Alice Murphy to have a happy ending.

Cooking and most of ther cleanup is over.  I have a huge pot of chicken soup and a smaller pot of a chicken stew-potage.  When everythig's cooled, I'll put it into containers for the freezer and scour the stove.

This constant PAINT YOUR WAGON brouhaha over CD or CD-R is really irritating to me.
