And here's a Sunday free-for-all question for the class:

Are you a PB&J eater?  If so, what are your favorite kinds of PB and J?  And have you ever ordered a PB&J anywhere?

I tend to go months in between PB&J binges, but I just started one and Smucker's Natural is my absolute favorite these days.

It can be creamy or chunky, I do not care.  But for me, this one's the taste of peanut butter.  Being "natural", it does separate, but all you have to do is get it thoroughly mixed the first time and keep it in the fridge after that.

After getting used to a decent "natural" PB, I find a traditionally manufactured brand tastes like absolute crap even though I grew up loving them.

Jellies, jams, preserves, marmalades ..... they're all good.  I ain't choosy, but I do avoid plain old grape jelly which I just find totally boring as an adult.

Strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry jams and preserves are favorites.  Blueberry too, but not on PB.  A good orange marmalade is also wonderful, too.

I also thought of PB and banana, which I haven't had in years.  I don't remember how I used to make them, whether just those two things or if anything else was added.

For bread, when it comes to PB, I tend to go for wheat or other grain breads.  Today's is a 12-grain Pepperidge Farm, but anything of that ilk will do.

Finally...  No, I have (to the best of my memory) never ordered a PB&J out anywhere.  And while there might be a good place to do such a thing, the thought doesn't appeal or make any real sense to me.  I wouldn't order, for instance, a baloney sandwich anywhere either.  Some things belong in the home, and don't translate to other eating.

So there you have it -- an unexpected flurry of peanut butter posts which might even inspire some other peanut butter posts.  Me, I'm going back downstairs to make another.

Yes, peanut butter & jelly (preserves) sandwiches are best made at home.

Sami is doing Annie at the ALS benefit - and for the first time it's been orchestrated (by Lanny Meyers) and I just heard a synth mock-up of the chart and it's great, really great.  Her mom will film it at rehearsal and the show so everyone can hear it.

I am home from the auditions. We have a cast except for the two children, but we have two more weeks to land them.

We saw two ladies, both of whom I liked.  One was perfect for the part we needed to fill and the other, whom we were seeing for the same role, was perfect for a part that's already cast. We have a young tenor, who's played Marius regionally in Les Miz, who was perfect for our Big Solo.

I wanted Patrick Cummings, my leading man on ROBERTA, for the wayward son or the coal mining husband, but I learned today he turned us down.  I hope it means he's got a job.

Smucker's natural peanut butter, smooth.  The chunky reminds me of sand in my shoes.

My favorite preserves to go with it are peach and black cherry.

For me, PB&J must be on white bread or white toast and must be grape jelly... Not jam

DR George your HOBBIT DVD sounds intriguing.

It's great!  And even though it's a fan edit, it's beautiful, just like it was a professionally released DVD!

I agree.  I used to get Adams All-Natural peanut butter at Costco, but it was too much for one person, so I get it at Fred Meyer in regular sized jars.  But it's still the best!  There's a local hamburger joint that has peanut butter as a flavor for their shakes, and they actually use crunchy peanut butter.  YUM! :D

What I've never tried (and never will!) is the peanut butter and jelly in the same jar!  WTH?? :-\

I forgot to mention that "good" white bread (you pays your money and you takes your choice, I think) is perfect for PB&J.  In fact, if I'd thought about it, I would have picked out one over the multi-grain bread I bought the other day.

DR George reminds me, speaking of shakes:  My favorite Haagen-Dasz ice cream of the late 1980s was Peanut Butter Vanilla.  The vanilla ice cream was laced with peanut butter and it was absolutely delicious.

Of course it's been discontinued for years.

For a year, I've been getting spam calls from an 805 number - I usually pick up because lots of 805 legit numbers call here and I can't remember what's real and what's not.  It's a home improvement contractor or so they say and then I just normally hang up.  You can't call back either because you get a message saying their voice mail hasn't been set up yet.

After a year of these ASSES calling me, I answered today.  Well, I went off on this guy like nobody's business - I suspect this happens to them all the time - I screamed continuously for about six minutes, called him every name I could think of and a few I couldn't think of,  told him I was going to find out where he is and come pay a visit, called him even worse names, all at the top of my lungs.  He kept talking right through it all, never stopping until I stopped for a moment to get my breath, but never acknowledging that I was berating him.  Then I switched and said, yes, I do want your services - can I give you my home address now or do you have it - do you need my credit card now, are you ready to take down that information - and he kept right on talking.  I was just like Patrick Bronstein in the opening of that book.  I finally said, how do you live with yourself - is the twelve cents an hour you're making enough for your conscience?  I said, you know what happens to morally bankrupt jerks - karma, that's what happens and your karma points are at minus 1000, although I understand the word karma is probably too big for you to understand.  There was finally silence and then he said, you seem to be out of control today, are you the homeowner?  I said, YOU, you fetid turd, you made me out of control and funnily, NO, I am NOT the home owner.  Oh, well.  At which point I hung up.
