Went to church with the folks. My sister, Annaliese, is due in in a few hours.

In the meantime, I'll be cooking lunch.

I think "What is it, fish?" will be on the menu.

I always found it interesting when I would type "Starfighter" (as in The Last Starfighter) and spell-check systems seemed to think I meant to type "Straighter."

Is spellcheck being judgmental? Always seems a little like that to me.

When will all this stop?

Off in a little bit to meet my Cousins Miriam and Laura from Pennsylvania.   We may venture out to Brooklyn for a while.

Awfully quiet here.  How about a Choice Gem?

Unconstrained by man nor girdle, I give you:  Capitol Records, from the roof of my apartment building, ca-1974.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  I drove Richard to the church he likes in Dayton and then he took me out to brunch at First Watch.

Please don't do this without providing the necessary detail because it causes everyone to jump immediately to the wrong conclusion.  Yes there was a police shooting in that three policemen were shot dead and three others injured by multiple gunmen, one of whom is dead and two of whom are still at large.

Speaking of the Vixter, we had a nice chat last night.  She is loving Florida and looking forward to her orientation at Universal this week

That's great, Vixmom!

I've seen spell check do that very thing:  I'll type a couple of letters which somehow triggers the iPad into creating two words, putting them on the screen as though I'd  selected them from the suggested words.  Which I most certainly had not.

IT MUST BE STOPPED.

I had to turn off the spell check on my tablet and my phone.  It was just too annoying.  :P

I'm at home.  I got home from the drive-in at around 2:45 am and went to bed.  Both movies were pretty good.  The problem is that it got a bit steamy in the car every once in a while, and when I turned on the engine to run the defrost, it got too cold for my niece (she's a bit of a whimp in that respect and didn't prepare for it) and then she couldn't hear the radio playing the soundtrack because it had to be turned down so low because of her hyperacusus.  But we got through it and enjoyed both movies.

Talking about going to the movies with my niece yesterday, Jane asked, "George can your niece wear hearing aids with her condition.  I seem to recall that she can't."  No, they don't help.  She has some noise reducing ear muffs that help in general, but she can't watch a movie with them on. :-\

I just heard that Gregg Smith, of the Gregg Smith Singers, died this past Tuesday.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/17/arts/music/gregg-smith-choral-leader-who-elevated-standards-dies-at-84.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Farts&action=click&contentCollection=arts&region=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=8&pgtype=sectionfront

I worked with him in 1988 on the Brooklyn Academy of Music-PBS Gershwin celebration.  He was a very nice man, lived on West 71st Street in a baroque building that needed a lot of repair.  I never met his wife, Rosalind Rees, with whom he did many recordings, but I never liked her voice.

This Martha Stewart "Martha Bakes" TV program with her "students" makes me laugh.  I'm sure the young bakers are all thinking "what a bitch" every time she utters one of her condescending lines to them.

Well, I'm off to my sister's to help move a bookshelf down some stairs.  We were going to go out to lunch to celebrate her boyfriend's birthday, but I don't think that that's happening.  We'll see.

Until later.

Back from fridge shopping.  Did I say we're fridge shopping, probably a few days ago?  Well, now the cat's out of the bag.  I think I know which one we're going for, and it shall be done this week.

Nice picture DR CHAS SMITH.  There are reviews of refrigerators on the Lowe's website that might be helpful.

The review of the one I bought mentioned the noisy motor.....I should have listened.  But putting a piece of styrofoam between the freezer fan and the top of the freezer did the trick....another trick I learned from a Lowe's review....
