Some years ago when in Saschatawn for our niece's   wedding , we had the most wonderful toast in the hotel restaurant.  It was thick sliced and as a result you got both the lovely crunch and nice soft interior ... We waxed  rapturous over this toast ordering extra slices and telling the waiter (who clearly thought we were mad) how amazing it was and asking if it was a specialty of that hotel....

A week later when we got to Alberta and did the grocery shopping we discovered it was a common item in the bread aisle , known as Texas Toast.
