Got to go salsa dancing tonight. Live band. Small dance floor. People from all over crowded in together. Fun.

Just dancing. No technique. No redoing anything. Just fun.

Has anybody here read Anne Tyler's latest, Vinegar Girl? It's a so-called modern retelling of Taming of the Shrew.

I usually like Tyler. I was surprised to learn that she hates Shakespeare. It shows in this book, which is creaky, more dated than Shakespeare's play, and actually kinda creepy.

Back from the first of two dress rehearsals in an outdoor town park in the middle of Where-The-Hell-Am-I, Connecticut.

About a third of the cast wasn't in costume or miked, and there wasn't much scenery or set design going on, so...

I dunno.  I just play the notes that are in front of me.   :)

You know what's sad?  When a couple of the reed and brass players do a very decent job of reading and playing their books, but you can just tell that - even though they're very nearly in most of our own age brackets - they apparently did NOT grow up listening to, say, the Merman original cast recording.  Or they'd KNOW, without having it drilled into them, which bars their various licks in the Overture and all go, and how they should sound.

Well, I'm ready for a good night's sleep.  Back at it tomorrow.

Vibes to all -- health-wise, money-wise, everything-wise.

More a curiosity than an actor.

Except when I am playing a role that requires the actor to be in a chair.

There's been a security update available - I hate doing them because it always does something screwy and the computer takes forever to load everything - but I decided to do it.  Naturally it was retarded as always.  My entire desktop's contents disappeared but the computer wouldn't shut off.  I finally had to shut it off manually and restart - it took about fifteen minutes to fully load everything, and of course it didn't do the update.  I'm done with this crap.  I will have them call me tomorrow and be on the phone when I try it.

In SECOND SAMUEL, I used the fact that he was stuck in a wheelchair as one of the reasons for his bigotry.
