The unsuccessful errand was to the bank where Richard and I have our joint checking account.  They have a no-fee coin sorting machine for customers and I wanted to turn my accumulated coins and ones into my mad money for the papercrafting trade show I'm attending this weekend.  The machine was out of order, of course, and the other financial institutions we patronize do not have that service.  My only option, it seems, is to use the one at Kroger, which charges a fee unless you take your proceeds in gift cards.

My credit union has one also, but you have to deposit it into your account first.  Then, you can withdraw the amount that was deposited for no fee.  It's a bit of a hassle, but a work-around.

I don't know about the Chase bank here but our office in Ashland accepted coins and counted them free, if you donated them to a charity.    We had a large jar that at one time had been filled with English hard candies my mother gave me.  All these years we have filled it with coins and then cashed them in.  Before the move we took the jar to the bank and donated the money.  The woman who helped us thought the jar was great, especially when I told her how long I have had it.  I gave her the jar.  Downsizing is very difficult.    Craig wasn't even born when my mother gave me the jar.

I am home from the Metropolitan Room.  I would haver been home 45 minutes ago if the No. 7 bus I was riding hadn't been hit by one of those idiot red tourist buses at 34th Street. First time that's happened in 37 years.

Celia's show was quite nice, and she told the audience, which was true, that one of her recording's reviews called me a "national treasure."  Between that and "Broadway legend" on the Behind the Curtain site, and my ego is quite stroked for 2016.  It's a cross.

The show was quite lovely, and here are Celia, Alex Rybeck, and I after the show and before my bus mess.

Finally have a chance to say hi.  My Footloose camp ended so now I have mornings free.  Still have Xanadu this weekend which is shaping up quite nicely.  It's just a wonderfully written show, as crazy silly as it is.  Often overlooked, but cheezy fun.

I found it a big, joyful laugh.

Listening to a fine novel from Cathleen Schine called "They May Not Mean To, But They Do." It's hitting a little too close to home at times, though. It's about an aging couple who've reached the point where their children have to start helping with their care.
