This has been a rather somber worrisome day one of my coworkers called to say her fiancé had a stroke this morning we all like him very much so it has affected the whole office.

Then I received an email informing me that a lady in the church who I have known for just shy of 50 years has died. Two of her daughters grew up in that church with me and we are still friends. She was one of the counseled and chaperones and Sunday school teachers all the time I was growing up

Starting to watch the Cybill Shepherd version of The Lady Vanishes. Elliott Gould, Angela Lansbury and Herbert Lom co-star.

I saw this back in high school before seeing the Hitchcock, and I loved it. I wonder if I will after all these years.

I will say this, the first half-hour is fun. Richard Hartley has composed a gorgeous score. George Axelrod has punched up the script, adding a Third Reich element that includes Shepherd doing an impersonation of Hitler.

The thing on the Home Theatre Forum is sad, tragic, and funny all at the same time. The man involved is notorious. And he did lose the court case involving one film and yet he will not release the elements he has to the people who actually legally own that title now. This guy has been causing this kind of trouble for decades - I don't know a single person who doesn't loathe him. And, from what I understand, the way in which he acquired the elements on the title he doesn't own was, to put it nicely, underhanded.
