Last week on Penn and Teller's FOOL US, they had an illusionist / escape artist perform. His assistant shackled him into three sets of handcuffs, plus hoot shackles and then put him into a front loading washing machine.

This was not one of the modern larger size front loaders, but this was more like the kind you see in laundromats.

Before the show started there was a box and a barrel up on the stage, and audience members were invited to come up onstage and examine the two props.

The barrel had about eight or ten metal rods sticking through it.

About half way through the show, the barrel was set on stage, and Penn started talking over the speaker system about the barrel.

Suddenly, one by one the metal rods came sliding out of the barrel onto the stage, and then Penn pops out of the barrel.

We watched that last night. I meant to comment on it but I fell asleep. Equally amazing was his ability to fit into the front loading washer and later to climb out of it. Watching him go through the wash cycle was interesting as well.
