DR Elmore has had me riding the Way-Back machine lately. Here's a newspaper photo for the last show I was in, after he left for New York. Clearly, some of us understood the concept of "jazz hands" better than others...
The young man behind DR Ginny is Mike Carter, who was in my productions of
Rodgers & Hart, Jacques Brel, and
Trial By Jury. I think he found us through the Dayton Opera chorus and our music director Jim Martin. I haven't seen Mike since 1978. I spoke to him on the phone today for the first time in 38 years. On my next trip to Ohio to deal with the Miami U collection, I plan on a survivors' get-together with DR Ginny, Mike, Kim and John, and anyone else I can rope.
