Mark and I are in Overland, Kansas right now for the premiere of the brand new musical, "Have You Met Miss Jones?" It's a show written by Shirley Jone's son, Shaun Cassidy, and stars her other son, Patrick Cassidy and herself. It's surprisingly good. It has many songs from Shirley's musicals, but also several songs I'm sure no one in the audience has ever heard. For instance, it has songs from "Fade Out Fade In", "Wish You Were Here" and "Maggie Flynn". I know, Maggie who? The script is smart and at about 2 hours long, the show moves along at a nice pace. So, if anyone here lives within driving distance, I highly recommend it.

Sounds like fun, but the first two shows were more Jack Cassidy than Shirley. I know people love Maggie Flynn, but I find the children unbearable and some of the rhyming so clunky that I can't warm up to the music.

Okay, I re-read what I wrote and my paragraph structure does misleadingly suggest they're all Shirley Jones musicals. Sorry about that! The show has songs from many shows that Shirley never appeared in, including "Pirates of Penzance" and "Annie Get Your Gun" which are shows that Patrick starred in on Broadway. The show is about Shirley's life. And Jack Cassidy and her children were a part of her life, so the show captures their work as well as hers. I mean, if the show just had songs from Oklahoma!, Carousel, and The Music Man, it wouldn't be much of a show now would it?

She's done one or two more, but point well taken. And probably also makes for a more interesting show. I think it would be fun to see it.

TOD:

Can't even go there.

Let's just say I, too, need to get back into the 32 waist.

An honest 33.

Not the way I presently put on my 34s using a winch.

Saturday morning greetings!  I've been over to my friend Katie's for a little orientation to her house and to pick up a key.  You see, she agreed to host the October 3 meeting of Current Events Club and she and her husband now need to be out of town.  It was just simpler to keep the venue and have me stand in as "hostess."  It won't be the first time I've attended a meeting at her house without her and it's not the first time I've been in charge of her house.  Back in 1992, I was expecting a huge contingent of relatives for Christmas and asked Katie if she had a roll-away bed we could borrow.  She said, "No, but you're welcome to use our house while we're out of town!"  Mom and I set it up like a bed 'n' breakfast for my sister's family and, after they left, remade the beds and stocked the refrigerator for Katie's returning family.

Tomorrow morning, I'm helping my sister at Olympia's Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention walk.

I thought the walks weren't until next month, at least the Seattle one.  I need to check this out as a friend is walking with her daughter who struggles with this and survived two attempts.

I usually dress as though I just climbed off my coal barge, but I'm happy.

I also see that my fashion sense has changed little in 68 years.

You are soooo darn cute!!!

That was very generous of your friend Katie, and nice of you to stock the refrigerator before her return :)

OK, two New Yorkers up and neither responded to my very important question....

My friend is staying in mi-Manhattan and wants to know which deli he should go to for "one of those big corned beef sandwiches".

He specified Jewish deli but I figure that goes without saying ;)

Bruce, I also figured you would answer this question last night.

I buy clothes at my local Goodwill......if I need something nice and new, I go to Burlington....  I am very fortunate because my mother is an excellent seamstress and can do any alterations that need done.  It goes without saying that I am NOT a fashion plate - nor was I EVER!

I have recently returned to the 38 waist from a 42....and wouldn't mind going on down to a 36.....I am at 207 lbs right now....down from 247.....

My goal is somewhere in the 190's....we shall see how that goes.

DR Jrand congratulations on dropping your waist size.  You are lucky your mother can alter all of your clothes.  I found someone good locally and close to home.  I have a terrible time getting clothes to fit.

Bruce I hope you reach your goal and then find nice fitting clothes which should help you maintain your weight.  For the first time ever Keith had to work at gaining 5 pounds.  He reached his goal this morning and was pleased with himself.  He had a good time working at this new goal :)

Many times over the years I have had to work at keeping my weight up.  The problem is, once I start gaining it is difficult to stop.  I have had the same problem with losing weight, sometimes it was difficult to stop.

Mostly, over the years, I have stayed in the same 5 pound range, therefore I have loads of very old clothes that I occasionally recycle.

Sometimes I buy clothes online with the majority of them needing to be returned.  Macy's is easy because I can take them to the store.  Tommy Bahama has a very easy return system and they pay for it.

In Spain I discovered a store with fun clothes.  To my surprise there was a section of their clothes on the ship.  I tried on about 10 items and was pleased that 1 blouse fit and looked good on me.

I wish there was a Desigual store near me. http://www.desigual.com/en_US?gclid=Cj0KEQjwyJi_BRDLusby7_S7z-IBEiQAwCVvnwNrbfan4mJ-4Io4ISkfE5tqa93HW1axEpC-yNIQ96UaAoy-8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLep9tbIqM8CFUR6fgod3uQOBg

I had a notice on the computer that Time Machine couldn't complete its backup due to lack of space - that's odd as it's supposed to simply delete the oldest backups so that it always has room. I'm trying again, but may have to call Apple.
