My sweet Vixter called me yesterday... She is very happy and has been promoted to full time status as well. Having been officially promoted to "trainer" status... Which came with a small raise in her pay

Congrats to The Vixter!

My brain is too filled with trivia to remember the momentous dialogue from a classic like Valley of the Dolls.

I picked up the bird today. He was happy to see me. Then I put him in his cage. He's not happy anymore.

In the scene that DR GEORGE pictured above - perhaps you may have noticed that in one of the last shots of Miss Susan Hayward as she raises her arm to sing one of the last phrases.....there is a LONG thread hanging from the seam under her right arm....

In a couple of hours, I will be leaving.  I'm going with my friend Margo to Portland, Oregon, to see her eldest daughter perform in another cabaret act that she (her daughter) created.  Previous cabaret shows have been really good (if a little long), but she's got several of her friends performing with her.  It's called "Gender Bender Cabaret."

Quote
Fantastic performers will sing their favorite songs they rarely get to perform. Singers will sing songs usually sung by the other gender. You will hear songs range from classic rock, showtunes to 2010's pop!

She's a very good singer and performer, as all of her performing friends from previous shows have been, so it'll be good show.

So now, I have to get ready to go.  We're going to eat someplace either along the way, or when we get to Portland.  We haven't decided.  I might post from my phone.  We'll see.

Have a good day, all!

I've been watching the second hour of this three-hour German flick called Kings of the Road. It's visually fascinating, but the story is somewhat underwhelming. The movie is dedicated to Fritz Lang, but I don't see it.

Welcome home vibes to John G.

His trips always seem so much shorter than I expect.

I need to get ready to leave, though. I'm ushering for the symphony, which is doing the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2, plus works by Mozart and Rossini. Should be a good evening. I hope i get to hear it.

Yes! The sorting part is time-consuming and tedious; you can't just rush through it. I know people who claim at least to just toss it all wholesale, but God only knows what gems you'd toss. And, yes, I have to be in the right mood. Otherwise, little is tossed.

Thanks, dear!  It has not been a good day and I can hardly navigate the apartment since nearly any pressure on my left leg stops me in my tracks. Stairs are the worst. I told Joshie today when he called to check on me to not ask me how I was until after Ocy. 13 since I was sure there would be no change until then.

Had a really good stumble-through - structure worked perfectly, so I printed out the commentary and we're all set.  Cast did great with only two teeny-tiny lyric fumfers.

Then I had a pastrami sandwich and a few sweet potato fries (about half a small order).

My friend who is currently in NY put a video up on facebook.  He said "Well I tried".  The video is of the crowds and the long line to get into Carnegie Deli.
