TOD:

It seems like most of the omnibus/anthology films I immediately think of are of the spooky or horror variety, and I've always enjoyed them.  Never saw (or even heard of) CAT'S EYE, though.

I do enjoy the original DEAD OF NIGHT, and there was a more modern one of that title that I vaguely recall was kind of good.

The Hammer and Amicus ones are great fun.  My first ever was ASYLUM, which I could swear I saw at the Pantages.  I've also enjoyed the two CREEPSHOWs.

I'm pretty sure there are others out there that aren't horror, but they just aren't coming to mind.

I cheated.  I just asked my friend Mr. Google (no relation to Mr. Flu Shot) about omnibus films, and was immediately reminded of the likes of NEW YORK STORIES, FOUR ROOMS, PARIS JE T'AIME, NIGHT ON EARTH, and COFFEE AND CIGARETTES.

Others, too, but those are ones I know I've seen, and enjoyed to some degree.

Since it was requested:

Mr. Flu Shot (tune of Mr. Sandman)

Mr. Flu Shot
Bring your vaccine
Please swab my shoulder to make sure it’s clean
Then fill my system with cleansing serum
If there are germs I hope you’re gonna clear ‘em

Mr. Flu Shot
If I complain
That’s ‘cause your shot was not for the right strain
Sorry if I vent my spleen
Mr. Flu Shot, bring your vaccine

The weatherman on our NBC affiliate gave us notice yesterday that our Indian Summer is likely OVER.

Rain in forecast, including today.

Of all the things on my DVR cache, last night I watched "The Story of Ruth".   It was high def and in stereo.  The image was 16:9, as I recall.   It was also quite noticeable that a lot of it was filmed on a soundstage.  Apart from some really risible dialogue in certain scenes, it was extremely well made, well cast and beautifully produced.

Gorgeous, unobtrusive score by Franz Waxman.

Am I the only H/K enjoying "The Durrells on Corfu"?  It's a Masterpiece Theater production (running concurrently with Poldark II and Indian Summers II).

"The Durrells on Corfu" is based on a book by Gerald Durrell who wrote quite a few books, many about animals and his family.  He was the younger brother of Lawrence Durrell (noted 20th Century author of "The Alexandria Quartet" and other works).

I'm really loving it.  After two episodes, that is.

Argue with it, no.

Complain about it, though, Lawse YES!   M-o-o-n, that spells "complain about it."

Mike Barnum also posted elsewhere that he was enjoying it. Will have to check it out.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep.  I probably could have slept another hour, but I can't remember when the work session is - certainly sometime between eleven and noon.

Happy to report the arrival of the Sherman Brothers in Danbury.

Mine arrived at my home on Friday, and I'm actually listening to it RIGHT NOW! :D

Yep. Things I'm giving away if anyone wants them.  I'll offer them to Joshie and other friends first before I pitch them.

I listened to the new SHERMAN BROS  CD again last night!  It just gets better.  Those Kostal arrangements on the ROMAN HOLIDAY tracks are amazing!

He's like a vampire: you think the coffin;s nailed shut and he rises up and bites your butt!

Topic of the Day:  does "Fame" (the original) count?  If so, that'd be on my list.  I also saw "Cat's Eye," and I remember liking it.

Oh, yes.  I watched Skate America over the weekend.

Mariah Bell.   Remember that name.  She won the silver medal (Ashley Wagner took the gold).

It was her 2nd seniors competition (Mariah's, not Ashley's).

Loved that TRILOGY OF TERROR.  Thanks for the reminder, DR Jrand66.

And thanks to both DRs Elmore and Jrand66 for the O. HENRY mention.  I probably saw it, but can't say for sure.
