In 1980, Peter Clem, a friend with whom I'd done summer theatre in 1970, asked me to be arranger and MD for a trio of singers. the group became "Just Good Friends," and we performed in every NYC cabaret, several WBAI radio programs, and for and every New York City Gay Men's Chorus benefit until the group split up in 1983. When I needed a place to stay between July and November 12, 1979, Peter had given me his spare room. I had to move out when his lighting designer boyfriend Alan moved back in on Nov. 14, 1979. Yesterday, Nov. 14, Peter and Alan were married after 37 years.
They just stopped by to drop off a large bundle of "Just Good Friends" music, since they are moving out of the area next month. In this photo of "Just Good Friends" from a 1981 magazine, Peter has the beard. He still does, only it's very gray now. I, of course haven't changed, at all, give or take 60 lbs.
