I'm sure I'll remember more soundtracks as the day goes by.

Back to Chorus Line for a moment:

It's just weird.  There are some sections I found it had "settled in" for me and I wasn't too distracted by anything, and others in which people's or instruments' locations had moved or gotten bigger/smaller for no discernible reason.  But even when things seemed fairly normal, I could walk into the next room and still hear this new (?) reverb-y layer.

My system is 7.1 so the rear speakers are literally in the corners of the room, and Zack is all the way back there -- but not really sounding distant (as Mama Rose would), so, kind of a mismatch.  On the original, he "crosses" left to right and back again, and that's completely gone.  BK has already referred to some of this, but it's just headshakingly bizarre.

BK also reminds us of Follies.  Something this SACD has the power to do is remind us that both great and silly things are possible with remixing.  There are so many more recordings that could be hugely improved, whether in stereo or multi-, that it's just sad this can't be moved along.

The son of a friend from grade school through high school sings wth the Oakland East Bay Gay Men's Chorus.  my friend sent me a copy of their dec. 2016 holiday concert, and they performed my arrangement of "The Dreidel Song," which I wrote earlier this year.  I won't know how many performances it received until I see my royalty statement for 2016, but this may be the premiere performance.  I hope it went well.

That's great, Larry!  Congrats!

Charlotte and this damned movie "The Best Worst Thing . . ."  are going to be the death of me.  She takes her time getting back to me about possbile times, and now, when I go to buy tickets for tomorrow, there's no goddam 12:30 showing.

I was listening to the original cast just a while ago, which is strange after getting used to the revival cast.  But I was seeing these people in my mind's eye throughout, and now I look forward to seeing that again.

I got me a couple of nice Samuel Barber CDs today, thanks again to BK, and have just renewed my acquaintance with the beautiful Knoxville: Summer of 1915 as sung by Leontyne Price.

I first got to know this in school through Eleanor Steber who was in residence and is the one who had it commissioned.  I think I still have her recording, and I'm trying to remember if we performed this with her.  Maybe not, but I'll have to dig into that.  It seems like I'd done more than just listen to it back then.
