Once he starts writing, if he needs any advice, I will be happy to offer my assistance.

Choosing the book vibes for MR BK......perhaps you should write them both.  I remember growing up there were books that had TWO novels in the same volume.  And they were printed opposite each other so that the novel you weren't reading at the time and took up the other half of the volume was upside down.....it was bizarre....

And that's exactly what I dreamt - that somehow the book I came up with had to be read one way for part one, then turned around and read the other way for part two - with two different covers.

I used to love those books.

So, I was so taken by the two pieces I heard last night by Samuel Jones, that I Googled him, delighted to find he's still with us and has a website, so I wrote him a nice e-mail, since he knew a producer I worked with regularly in the Bay Cities days.  I just got the sweetest e-mail back from him - and he was so happy, as most of us are, when someone takes notice and also takes the time to write.  I thought I'd bought the rest of what's on CD, but he pointed me to three other pieces - two on DVD and one audio book that's actually just concert music and narration, so I'll pick those up, too.

Listening to the rest of the Dello Joio I put in iTunes.  This man is the best of what American music is.  For me, he's right up there with Copland for sheer beauty, but he's nothing like Copland - he is very much who he is musically, but his music is filled with such heart, such melodic beauty, that I could just play it over and over again.  We put out a few things of his on Bay Cities and I remember even then how much I loved him and whenever I'd see something released on CD I'd grab it - in the LP days I had everything of his, which is how I already knew his work by the time we did Bay Cities.  Now playing, three ballets of Martha Graham that featured his music.  Can't get enough.
