The bus ride was an adventure. I think we stopped at every stop. Six wheelchairs/scooters got on board. The 40-minute ride took an hour and a half.

The joys of riding the bus.

I have been listening to The Happiest Girl in the World and On the Town OCRs today.

Tempted to purchase the 2009 studio cast recording of Allegro as a birthday gift to myself.

Cast recordings I intend to explore in the near future: Wonderful Town, Bright Star, By Jupiter, Little Me and Irma La Douce.

Also just became aware of a Bacharach/David show called On the Flip Side.

Well, it's hard to say. He will be there for a while, I think.

My Previn set of the complete Tchaikovsky Ballets arrived this afternoon!

Today, I received W.A. Mozart: The Complete Operas (all 22) on 33 DVDs!

Quote
The Complete Mozart Operas, including his early and lesser-known operas, every Singspiel, and orchestration of scenic fragments, presented in the most beautiful edition ever created. This collection, the largest audio-visual Mozart project of all time, presents over 47 hours of live recordings, 112 solo performers, 14 directors and 16 conductors including 12 orchestras.

On these complete live recordings, which were the culmination of the Mozart Year celebration in 2006, all the Salzburg Festival s own productions appear a marathon of music on 33 High Definition DVDs in 5.1 Surround Sound, presented in this deluxe edition.

Included are - making-of - bonus material, artist interviews and rehearsal excerpts, providing insight into the Festivals preparation and an introduction to the music, making this Edition invaluable to Mozart scholars as well as concert-goers. Many of the lesser-known works included in this set had not been seen in any video format before this set was originally issued.

I received a financial thank you from DR Elmore for some DVDs that I had sent him, and applied that to this purchase, so that alone would have made it cost less than the price of $82.70+$3.99 shipping.  But with my Amazon gift certificate for Christmas, it was essentially free! :D

Right now, I'm listening to a CD that I got last week:  Bumblescratch, the London concert cast recording with music and lyrics by Robert J. Sherman, nephew of BK's close and personal friend, Richard M. Sherman!  It's quite delightful and a lot of fun!

Then I had to call my bank to straighten out a couple of charges I didn't understand - they were fine, though - what wasn't fine was being on hold for almost two hours, which are just two lost hours as I couldn't write while listening to that endless music and chatter.

I futzed and finessed quite a bit, and I've only written a couple of pages - this is the part where it gets a little more intricate and I must keep the flow going and haven't quite figured that out yet, so today and tonight may be slow going.

I've uploaded all of Swan Lake, and 2/3 of The Sleeping Beauty.  I spoke to the copyist about fixes in my scores for next week's reading, and I've set my appointment in late Feb. for my taxes with my accountant.

I've done about five pages so far - some amusing stuff on the last couple of pages that made me laugh.  Five or six more to go, but I think I'll take a hot shower right now and see what comes to me, then do two or three more, then relax for a bit.

How are you going to celebrate your birthday?

Thanks for asking! My friends are taking me to dinner at "Fogo de Chao" in Beverly Hills. Good thing I'm not a vegetarian, huh? :)

Ha!

Ha!

I looked up the restaurant since it is in Beverly Hills and notice there is also one in Portland.  Since I am a vegetarian I will not be eating at either location ;)

I've begun watching Dancing on the Edge, but it's not holding my interest. I'd rather watch the repeats of Downton Abbey on PBS.

Thank you!

Not sure if there was an official release of OTFS, but all of the tracks seem to be available for free on YouTube.
