As a member of the Missouri Synod, I can attest to JRand's post.

As a member of ELCA ( that is to say a heretic of the worst order) I say I hold Elmore's posts in yet higher esteem that I do any dictums from MO

For you Place to Call Home fans, Elizabeth just sang "When I Grow to Old to Dream" to a group of homeless veterans. That song always gets me, and the setting of this made it even more touching.

Also, there is a tv in this motel room that has cable. And there really is nothing on. I don't miss a tv at home at all.

That's how I feel when I go to a hotel room. What is that TV thing?

Listening to Benjamin Britten's amazing Four Sea Interludes, the clear inspiration for Jerry Goldsmith's score for Islands in the Stream.

Lovely piece of music. That was part of Bernstein's last concert.

That looks like it's a pretty fun book, John.  I just looked and my library has the Kindle e-book, so I went ahead and downloaded it. :)

I think I'll put the motor car in the garage, then I'll take a hot shower and see about wrapping up this chapter in the next three pages and writing the first line of what will be the penultimate chapter.  From that point I should be within sixty to sixty-five pages from finishing.

We have rain but so far it doesn't look frozen to me.  If it doesn't freeze it will be safer out there, except we might have flooding if the rain melts all of our snow.

Took a hot shower, then finished my writing for the day and evening - I did finish the chapter - I believe I wrote fourteen pages altogether, so that's nice.  And I wrote the first two sentences of the new chapter, which is the book's penultimate chapter.  Tomorrow I'll pass page 200.

John, I'm currently reading "Rise of the Rocket Girls: The Women Who Propelled Us, from Missiles to the Moon to Mars."  It, like "Hidden Figures," is about the women computers who helped get rockets into space.  This one, however, isn't about African American women.  I don't know if book this will mention them.  It's very interesting and goes through quite a bit of history.  I'll read "Cat Out of Hell" next.
