THE NON-JUDGMENTAL JUDGE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not judgmental, and now it is time for you to post until the non-judgmental cows come home.

I just finished watching a DVD from the library, a British movie from Britain called Tyrannosaur.  It's very interesting and kind of violent, although you don't see a lot of the violence.  Anyway, the DVD that I have is the last library copy...all the other copies were lost or stolen or just went missing, and this last copy is damaged.  The hub is cracked, but not so bad that it didn't work, but definitely bad enough that I, as a library employee, won't allow it to be put back into circulation.  There aren't any other holds, so I'll let the selector know so she can decide if she wants to get new copies or not.  We had our first ever (as far as I can remember) budget cut, so she probably won't replace it. :-\

We'll see.

Topic of the Say (kind of):  One of my favorite authors is Fredric Brown.  One of the first books of his that I read was one of his several sci-fi short story collections called "Space On My Hands."  The cover on the edition that I read had absolutely nothing to do with any of the stories in the book.  Here are a couple of early covers:

and:

I don't know if either of these is the original cover, though.

Here's another cover that looks like it was later than the edition that I read:

All of those covers are very science-fictiony.  However, here is the cover of the edition that I read:

I got that book from a friend of my mom's when I was in high school.  Fortunately, she told me (and my mom) that the image has nothing to do with the stories, and really enjoyed them. :)

This is a therapy day.  when I get home, I will work for an hour or two on Guys & Dolls, then go back to "The Great Indoors."

Well, it's a Monday for sure now.

Car won't start, and I'm 99% sure it's the starter again -- the starter that was REPLACED last month.

My day is complete.

Yesterday's Middletown Symphony Orchestra concert was only half symphony.  The other half was Maestro Carmon DeLeone and his New Studio Big Band with guest Mike Reid.  Katie and I had a good time and were glad to get home before the snow got serious.

I like MR BK's style of judging which is also the style I use when i am asked to judge anything.  I haven't had to for awhile....but it is good to be positive.

TOD:

So many!!!  DR GEORGE's example was most entertaining!

Among my favorites would have to be

BENJAMIN KRITZER - although ALL of MR BK's books have great covers!

AND:

Will There Really Be a Morning?  the original hardcover edition

Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury

Atlas Shrugged - original hardcover edition

Valley of the Dolls - first paperback edition

PLUS MANY MORE!   :D

Later there was a paperback movie tie in edition with stills of the stars from the movie....I got one of those many years later at Goodwill.  I had bought the LP soundtrack for twenty five cents from a Cutout bin at a local drugstore about a year after the film's release.....

I'm up, I'm up - awoke at six and unable to fall back asleep - don't know why really, and I might go back to bed, but the hammering, while not horrible, is out there so it probably won't happen.
